Bookmark the Smallpeice one then! There courses are short courses in the hols. not sure what age they start... mo went on one last year (yr 10).

She has worked hard... I respect her more than anyone in the world. It isn't me driving her... she is self driven. She hangs around with her friends... but when they go out on a night drinking and stuff... she doesn't (well v occaisionally).

She IS planning on having a gap year... she has an ongoing list of stuff she wants to do in that year... (including shipwrecked, big brother if its still on, )... but that is why she works now... she has scheduled a year of downtime before uni!

Dunno about it being so much role models or all down to lack of discipline. I think a lack of awareness of potential, or being shown direction... or people having faith in them.

Self fulfilling prophecy... tell people they are bad for long enough, they will beleive it and be bad.
