Her english teacher keeps saying "we like lizzy because........."

Laugh

I hate Lizzie too. She really, really irrites me. I can just imagine if I met her in real life she'd be really away with the fairies and think of herself as an enigma. I voiced my opinions on her in class and my teacher was outraged 'cause she loves Austen and Lizzie especially.

*gasp* Mo got into trouble too... for dissing Lizzy. Her teacher is the same.

Ros... I am not totally up to speed with their involvement in anything other than 6th form (cos thats the scholarship my daughter went for)... but here is the link The Ogden Trust

We were approached about the scholarship cos daughter attended a masterclass last year with the Smallpeice Trust (for kids interesting in engineering & design technology). She went on a motorsports engineering course.... from that she was selected as a possible candidate for the Reeds School scholarship sponsored by Ogden Trust & Toshiba.

Tell her she's not alone and that Lizzie is an irritating try-hard.

I had to pretend in an essay the other day that it was 'satisfying' to see Lizzie and Darcy get married because she finally got what she deserved Shake Head

Darcy, I love and always did throughout and it annoys me how she changed her opinion so quickly...but oh wait, it was Lizzie's prejudice that mader her love Wickham but hate the 'mean Mr. Darcy' and there is Austen being all clever. Roll Eyes

I am weeping like a baby... I will be weeping like a baby. But she has promised to stalk me on here.

(they do have Suffolk day student scholarships too)

Ooooh...he'll get all excited now!!! Then Ill disappoint him when I tell him he's too young anyway!!!!
MrsB
Ros... thank you.

She has worked hard... I respect her more than anyone in the world. It isn't me driving her... she is self driven. She hangs around with her friends... but when they go out on a night drinking and stuff... she doesn't (well v occaisionally).

She IS planning on having a gap year... she has an ongoing list of stuff she wants to do in that year... (including shipwrecked, big brother if its still on, Roll Eyes)... but that is why she works now... she has scheduled a year of downtime before uni!

Your daughter sounds very well motivated and mature - it's nice that she has a direction and I am sure she will do really well. Difficult for you to be having her away from home though - I think going to uni would be bad enough Frowner

My son hopes to go Uni this year and has thrived in 6th Form college but your daughter sounds exceptional like Mary Big Grin

I saw your comment about sixth form boys in the towers last night. Eeker

Hiya Darlo. Big Grin

Angel wasn't me miss...someone must have hacked my account Angel

Darlo... I know that 'gangs of problem youffs' must exist... hey, I have even met disadvantaged kids, but i haven't met a proper bad un!

Society is changing... but I think to blame it on our kids is wrong.

Older generations have always tut tutted at the younger generations... we used to get it when we were teenagers, and my dad says that his grandad was disgusted that his hair was so long at the back it reached his collar!!

So, I think alot of it could be older peeps get a bit grumpy .. innit! Big Grin

Dunno about it being so much role models or all down to lack of discipline. I think a lack of awareness of potential, or being shown direction... or people having faith in them.

Self fulfilling prophecy... tell people they are bad for long enough, they will beleive it and be bad.

Exactly Ditty....we should focus on the good for a change...make achievements something to be proud of, not embarrassed by etc.
