How are the exams going?

Meh...idk really. Not that well. I think I'm going to do rubbish in them all. I've got psychology tomorrow and should be revising but I want to relax lots more.

How're you? Hug

I'm sure you're doing just fine Maz. You've been working hard for months. Hug

I'm good but feeling the pressure of exam time a little myself. Laugh

I'm having sleepless nights worrying about whether my Y11's and 12's are revising hard enough. Crazy I'm doing revision sessions most lunch times and after school and constantly worrying I'm not covering the right stuff. Roll on tomorrow when it's study leave and out of my hands. Laugh

My study leave began today but it means nothing to me, I get so much more done at college than at home.

I had an after college English lesson today which was cool. I don't think I've gone home at half 3 when college ends once this year Disappointed

Most of my students have been saying the EXACT same thing. I would normally have a double lesson tomorrow morning with Y12 (who also actually finished today officially) and most of them are coming in anyway. Laugh

Hahah yeah, I reallly don't get the point in study leave. I can't think of one person who doesn't use it go to parties/sleep all day.

But I will say to you, what I say to her... if you've done the work, you'll be ok. Biggest problem is stressing it, and losing sleep, and last minute cramming etc.

Also..... nothing is the end of the world... nothing! There is always a way... Hug

On the subject of schools and stuff, I have officially entered smug mode! My eldest has just been awarded a place at a summer school for the top 5% of the kids in the area. He is something af a maths and science genius (mebbe a slight mum exaggeration, but I don't care!) and is happy to give up part of his summer hols to do this. It's part of an accelerated GCSE thing and will hopefully secure him a place at the upper school he is desperate to go to. He's only 11 and I'm soooooo proud of him.....the summer school is based at the school he wants to go to, so here's hoping!

firstly LOL at Ducky!!

I can only give you a parents point of view... and a students (accesses ancient recesses of memory!)

My daughter did AS engineering today. She didn't do as well as she hoped in the mock... but came out quite happy today, as she'd really worked on her metal properties. Also the product they were given was a washing machine.... which due to ours breaking down, she had some idea how one worked).

BUT... I always tell my kids this... yes exams are important, yes you need to put the work in... BUT, if IF the worst happens, there are other ways. This is what you need to bare in mind when you are stressing.

I did A levels Mary... imo they are the hardest of all the exams... the breadth of knowledge is massive... and they are such a massive jump from gcse. I had to retake a couple of my AS's the following xmas.... it wasn't the end of the world... I still got the A level. xxx

Awwh yay! I hope she did well in it Big Grin

And apparently they are harder than even being at uni Disappointed

I'm surprised I've still managed to sustain my five, but it's killing me now Laugh
And yeah, I am kind of living with the 'it can all be redone in January' thing. Which I think may have to happen with English-whoever decided to make an exam on Pride and Prejudice and 15 poems a closed text exam deserves to be shot.

And thanks btw Big Grin Hug

WELL DONE MRSB!! Can't beat the smug parent buzz!

MrsB.... for gods sake go to the Ogden Trusts website... they are a trust for kids gifted in maths and physics (and sciences in younger kids)... they offer full scholarships to top private schools for both secondary schools and 6th form. My daughter has a full boarding scholarship starting next year... is worth a total of 70k!

It's the most boring, overrated, repetative book I've ever read.

It took me 40 chapters to start enjoying it.

How many times does Austen want to make the point that marriage as an economical agreement is bad and that high ranking members of society are generally not all that? Shake Head

They have a special programme in school + extended homework tasks + hoping to develop it further. We identify the top 10 - 20% in each year group

Ros... I am not totally up to speed with their involvement in anything other than 6th form (cos thats the scholarship my daughter went for)... but here is the link The Ogden Trust

We were approached about the scholarship cos daughter attended a masterclass last year with the Smallpeice Trust (for kids interesting in engineering & design technology). She went on a motorsports engineering course.... from that she was selected as a possible candidate for the Reeds School scholarship sponsored by Ogden Trust & Toshiba.

I hate Lizzie too. She really, really irrites me. I can just imagine if I met her in real life she'd be really away with the fairies and think of herself as an enigma. I voiced my opinions on her in class and my teacher was outraged 'cause she loves Austen and Lizzie especially.
