Hope you're ok Charli. I remember my first night away from home and sharing with a stranger. I was forced to go and missed Barry so much. It was only a stupid Secretarial thingy in the days when typing and shorthand were important if you didn't go to college or get the banks or the Civil Service.
I was in bits and my room mate was really cool and talked about hash!!!!!
We were staying in a Convent that was converted into a hostel for this college. It was awful.

Sounds like a shower that one Ducky I can imagine small bath tubs but standing up in them oh my god
Well, it's as if your uni had you (and your son's) interests at heart... even though it wasn't five-star

When I went to uni they gave me a Uni owned house to rent, as I had a child. It was the most depressing place I've ever lived. Even now I can't put my finger on what the problem was with that house, but just being inside it depressed me.
It had the smallest bathroom you've ever seen in your life.... it had a bath fitted width ways, and it filled the whole wall. I had no idea you could buy baths that small. I had to sit up in it.

Beans & Cider. Tis the best diet ever. Never saw a student refuse it.

Ducky you're hilarious. How old was he at the time?
That takes guts.

He was four. I tried to time it so that he would be starting school the same year. However I forgot to take into account the differences in school systems county to county. He didn't start school till the Easter. It cost me a fortune in student loans to pay for the child care.
It was a difficult three years. I took some time off after I finished to just be a mum again. Then I worked part time till he was 12 and then trained to teach.
