Our silly sports afternoon got cancelled because of it. We had to have normal lessons instead but obviously we had nothing planned for it so were told to watch DVD's.

Except my PC doesn't have a DVD drive. I had to watch two hours of Top Gear on the BBC iplayer. Crazy Laugh

Laugh

Once we had a DVD lesson and the only thing we had to watch was Phonebooth and we all wanted to watch it but the teacher hated the swearing, so she put it on but turned the sound off so we were all doing voice overs for it.

What the bliddy hell was the point of that? Disappointed Laugh

My year 7's wanted me to put Mock the Week on but I didn't dare in case it had swearing in it. Blush

I personally couldn't give a damn but I didn't want those phone calls from those parents. Ninja

It was so funny, especially the bits where he had a shower or the prostitues come over.

We also watched The Spy Who Shagged Me in year....8 I think it was, and the teacher who showed it to us got fired even though we were all old enough to watch it Frowner

My stepdad watches them all the time, I find the voice over guy too blase, he just makes the entire thing into a joke. And there is only EVER one voice over man. He must just constantly be doing it.

And thanks Big Grin

He convinced us he was Bill Bailey's brother as well. I only found out last year that Bill Bailey doesn't actually have a brother...

Sounds like a fab teacher. Big Grin

It's a bit depressing these days. Sometimes it feels like schools don't want people who are willing to stray from the norm. I think the kids school lives are poored for it. Frowner

Awh he was brilliant.

I think where I go to college is really good for teachers who don't stick to the normal ways. It's full of mad teachers and I think it's part of the reason why it does so well with results and teacher/student realtionships.

The school where I had that teacher is now obsessed with making it look like a private school...even though it's not and it nearly got closed down a few years back. The old head didn't believe in bullying and the school was rife with it and no one used to get anywhere.
mary_bee
College is brill they treat you like adults, so much fun and better than school under less pressure but you have to work hard Smiler.

Our school went downhill when our best headteacher left in year 8, all students respected him and the teachers. Then after that just went worse, all the naughty kids used to get rewarded for playing up with trips to keep them out of trouble Mad.

It's being made into an academy now, which no-one wants Roll Eyes.
