Day 1:
Left my house at 7 to go to Owen's, whose dad was taking us, got a nice alcohol supply and then finally left at 8:30. Got to the Bath and West showground at 11 to join the hugest queue I've seen in my life. It was absolutely sweltering and it really rarely moved, it was quite fun though 'cause everyone was just running around and talking and getting excited. Finally left the field at about 5 and got the Glasto at about 6. There we traipsed around for ages trying to find a place, then me, Katie, Amelia and George all just collapsed next to some bins (my bag was so heavy even the burly men putting it on the bus fell over when lifting
) and sent 'the men' scouting for a place. They found us a fantastic location right next to the John Peel Stage, which was greatt. Then we started drinking and that's all I remember until lying on the ground next to the wooden dragon in the Stone Circle with a man I didn't know leaning over me, really concerned about me, he then carried me around until I found my friends and it's a blank again until I wake up next to a fire and near some people I sort of knew, where I then decided it was a 'good idea' to go back to the tent, still blind drunk and totally on my own and having the worst sense of direction ever. So I set off and obviously I was completely lost, I wandered around for maybe two hours before I found this caravan with some stewards in which I ran up to and burst into tears. They reassured me and then took it upon themselves to spend three hours walking me around the site trying to find my tent, which we didn't. So I was taken to a place called Welfare where you go if you're drunk/lost etc. which was actually really nice. I slept on a makeshift bed at the foot of some steps with a load of strangers.
Day 2:
Woke up, took ages to realise what happened, realised I'd lost my phone and one of my cameras, also ÂĢ20 of my money, the people in the place checked I was alright and said I was always welcome back and off I set. I was so so far away from where I was and I was so hungover, sweaty and I had a huge hole in my tights and when I got back to the campsite finally I was completely mauled by my friends who'd had no idea where I was and were obviously really worried. Then I set about fixing my tent up, as it was shit. I'd bought a ÂĢ5 childs beach tent basically which had a gap in the roof and not a proper door as it had a gap at the bottom so obviously it was going to leak loads, so I coated it in bin bags and as I was doing this of course it started to rain didn't it? Anyway, as soon as I'd finished the rain stopped and we set off for a jaunt, we met up with our other friends who were in hospitality camping and just trundled around. I found the place I want to spend the rest of my life, in the Healing Fields lying in a wooden hut/the grass. It's so lovely up there, I felt right at home and really didn't want to leave. We also met Michael Eavis (man who created the entire thing in case you don't know) as well and had a picture with him and Pete from BB! Eventually we went back to the tent, gathered a boy we'd met the night before and set off to see Beardyman and East 17. As we were leaving the thunder and lightning started which was quite cool, and horrendous when we were trying to get in the dance tent as there was a huuuge crush and I got trapped right in the downpour from the roof and got soaked right through. Then when we got inside it was like a jungle 'cause of the heat and the wet. Beardyman's a beat boxing chappy and he was amaaazing. During this I was getting on very well with the previously mentioned boy that we gathered
Anyway, this ended and instead of staying for East 17 we decided to go back as the night before my best friend Saff had stood in a fire and had massive blisters on her foot
so we went back to the tent. From here a few of us left to go to Trash City and I stayed with Lloyd and we were going to read Lord of the Rings but replace some word with others which sounds shit but we find it hilarious. As this was happening boy from earlier nipped by and decided to make himself at home, he was still there when everyone got back and Lloyd kicked us out as he wanted to go to bed and er...basically I'm sure you can guess what happened which I feel a bit bad for as I'd known him for about 3 hours and he was talking about his girlfriend quite a bit before, but he was the instigator so I don't feel as bad
Day 3:
Woke up to the wettest tent in the entire world. The sleeping bag was basically just a sodden mess and there was a river running through it, which was horrid, but we had to stay in there for ages as no one else was awake and it was pouring with rain so we couldn't get out and do anything else. Eventually it stopped and we got out and started to try and dry my rubbish tent, then ol' matey boy pissed off leaving just some socks. Then we all trooped off to catch the end of the Abba tribute band which was hilarious! Then Charli we all stayed to watch Gabriella Cilmi, thought of you the whole time! I'm not really a fan but she's absolutely gorgeous
She did a cover of Cry Me a River and Whole Lotta Love (the last one I thought was nearly sacrilege), we got on telly loads of times though this, and same with Regina Spektor who was on after. We also met some really cool people in the crowd who we got on really well with, which is probably my favourite aspect of the entire thing, the meeting totally random people and everyone being so friendly and wanting to talk and just chatting and helping you. Like the guy who helped me on Wednesday, apparently he was looking after me the whole night even when my friends were there, as he was really worried about me and as he was a lot older he knew how to deal with me etc, which was lovely and I never got the chance to say thanks
After this me and Katie went back to the tent before going to see Friendly Fires, where as I was sorting my tent out (yet again) some completely random man ran up to me and slapped my arse reallly hard which was quite weird
Then we went to see FF, who were fantastic. Whilst we were there this man was chatting to me and gave me some of his drink which was nice and then we were basically completely at the front for Lady GaGa...and well...I've now seen all of her, she wasn't wearing anything basically, and as a show she was actually really good. Then we saw The Ting Tings (who were actually quite good) and finally Bloc Party who were absolutely amaaazing!! I got about 4 cups of cider poured all over me which was lovely in my hair. Saff also got elbowed so hard in the neck that she passed out and had to be taken away over the barrier, where Josh had to pretend to be her boyfriend to be allowed to follow her, I wasn't there at that point as I was over the other side but it must have been really scary and apparently her uncle saw it happen on telly. Then we went back to the tent and I went to sleep in my semi dry tent in my army surplus blanket that Owen had to buy me, so yet again I was freezinggg.
Day 4:
Woke up to demands that we go and see Rolf Harris which I flatly refused to do as he was at Jazz World and that's the furthest away stage I could go to and I don't like him at all. So me and Owen stayed at the tent until we went to meet everyone in the Green Fields (another of my favourites) and then we went to see The Script. I'm not a massive fan but we thought they'd be great for a sing-along. There was one point where the sun was blazing down, I had my arms around my friends and I was literally crying with happiness, which is a bit sad but ah well, it was lovely. Then me and Lloyd went to see Dizzee Rascal who I didn't dance much to as I was knackered so I just lay down, then we went back to see Paolo Nutini, who was absolutely amazing!! His voice is perfect. Then me, Josh and Lloyd weedled our way completely to the barrier at the front where we bumped into one of the girls that we met at Regina Spektor which was really cool! We also got talking to this guy called Will and us five all just chatted loads and waited for Maximo Park before Pendulum. MP were alright, and it was funny being sort of...not really fans but being dead at the front whilst some of their die hards were behind us. Then oh my lord Pendulum started and wowoowwo they were absolutely awesome. It was incredible, the sun was setting as they played and everyone was going mental, you couldn't even move your arms above your head it was so mad. Then after this we left before Franz Ferdinand as we'd been informed of a secret gig that Fatboy Slim was doing in Trash City, but we arranged to meet the two people I just told you about after they'd gone back to their tents and got some more drink, so we sat and waited for a bit, as well as dancing with anyone that walked past. We waited for ages but they didn't come back and me and Josh fell out because we didn't want to leave them and let them down but we had to go. Then we got back to camp to gather the troops and Owen and Katie had had a massive lovers tiff which was awkward and Josh and Amelia and George rushed off to Trash City so me Lloyd, Owen and Katie followed and it took us forever to get there and it's the most mental place I've seen in my life. There's fire and cross dressers and metal and lights and lasers everywhere you go, I didn't like it all that much plus I was really pissy and tired and hadn't really eaten anything since Tuesday's tea. So after going to Shangri-La (which is basically the same) me and Katie walked back to tent. Or tried anyway...we got spectacularly lost and had to go all up through the Healing Fields etc. to get back, I nearly passed out 3 times before we got back. When we got back also I saw bloody Boy walk past me with some other girl in tow, he shined a torch in my face, said 'hi' and then sat down basically in the camp opposite and began his charm on her
I mean, obviously I wasn't expecting him to actually ever go anywhere but I was a wee bit miffed by that. He kept shining his torch across to me for the entire evening as well, so I went in with Lloyd when he got back eventually (he'd got lost too) and we read LOTR and when Amelia and George got back we chased those paper burning lanterns that were always being set off. Then Owen returned from his stint in the Arcadia trance tent and practically collapsed on his tent, which was hilarious, then I got to sleep in a warm, dry tent!!
Day 5:
Woke up sweating to death as the tent had been so warm and nice, then just sat about relaxing with everyone until eeeeveryone (hospitality campers) turned up and we all went to see Brand New, (before we went in we went to get food and bumped into Paolo Nutini as well
) who were good but they didn't play anything that I actually knew which was annoying as I love the stuff I do know. Then we moved in further in the crowd to see Enter Shikari. As they were starting I heard some rowdy men and sensed a bit of a mosh pit and the moment they started playing this huge circle pit opened up all around me and I was completely floored, people were stepping all over me and this bloke and his mate reached out for me and grabbed me and tried to get me up but I just kept slipping back in the mud and they were looking really desperate and I finally got up and they were really worried but it was all cool, they stayed with me for a bit until we got separated again. I basically kept getting dragged into the circle pit but I didn't fall again, there was so much blood everywhere as well. Then we went back to the tent before Madness, where Lloyd made a vile mixture of custard and crunchy nut which looked like bag of sick. Then we went to see Madness which I actually found quite boring
so I left halfway through and sat at the edge of the entrance. As I was sat there the amount of people coming past and stroking my hair/my face/dancing at me was mad. Then me and George went to see Bon Iver who was amazing and I was singing along in tears (again
). When he finished we again bumped into the girl from Regina and Pendulum, which was cool! Then we went to find the others who'd gone to The Park to see Cold War Kids. Here Josh got out of me what had happened on Thursday and took me to one side to tell me he was gay (which I'd known for ages anyway but had to pretend I didn't) and that on Wednesday night he'd also spent the night with him which was...a surprise
so now I feel less bad about the entire thing. That poor bloke's girlfriend, basically. We also realised the only thing we know about him is that his name's Edd and he's 20, which is also good, so basically I'm thinking wanker but oh well. But he leant Josh his hoodie and Josh still has it 'cause we didn't see him again. So after that nice little bomb shell we had to run to see Prodigy, somehow we got realllly far in which was good, and we all managed to stay together as well, we started a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday as well which was hilarious, and everyone there joined in even though it wasn't a birthday
They were absolutely ****ing amazing, I can't even get over it. There was a huge mosh pit there too which was incredibly fun and Keith came in the crowd and they were trying to get us all to crouch down but it was as Keith was going in so ofc we were all too preoccupied with him
Their set ended far too soon and I basically collapsed where I was. Then we began the most fun thing of just looting for goods, we found some hilarious things! We took any exit sign we could find back to our camp and put them in hilarious places, before getting more drunk and trekking off to The Stone Circle. As we were leaving the heavens really opened and we were all too cold and wet to actually want to walk all that way, so Saff, Josh other Josh and other George said I should go with them. We sheltered under a food place and bumped into a completely wasted Dick from Dick 'n' Dom, and we stole his food. Then we went off to the really posh camping place. On the way there we were singing anything we could think of in the most rowdy fashion which made the walk go so much quicker. Blagged my way into the field where I slipped right up and got absolutely covered in mud, so I had to sleep in Josh's shirt and underwear and wear the same underwear again today which is lovely
But oh my god, I got to sleep on an air bed with a real blanket in the warm and the dry and it was sooo good.
Day 6:
Woke up to another beautifully sunny day, spent the morning lounging in the long grass with the butterflies and burning my skin a bit more (I can barely move I'm so sunburnt) then we began the long trek back to mine 'cause Saff etc. were leaving and my tent was on the way out. I also wanted to buy a nice cold slush puppy but there was no ice ready so basically I just had a really cold ÂĢ3 glass of colourants. Mmmm!
Got back to the camping bit and oh my god it was insane how much it had changed over night, nearly everyone was gone, there were just so many abandoned things anywhere you looked! We all had such a laugh as well, running around finding anything, throwing things all over each other, gathering chairs, alcohol, hats, broken things, air beds and just taking the piss at my incompetence at camping 'cause I'd brought such a crap tent and loads of dried food that I'd hardly touched
Met loads of others as well who were busy looting and we all discussed our finds. Looting is also the most fun thing I've ever done, I also didn't feel stiggy I just felt fine
I love how little you care about anything at Glasto, no one really gives a damn and you can do anything you want. Then we set off for the buses at 5, and JUST managed to get the last one. Once back in the Bath and West field, none of us had a single working phone so we just had to try and blag some to ring a parent who might come and get us as we hadn't arranged it we were just sort of going to cross that bridge when we came to it. Spent the entire day drinking wine and cider and slapping each others' sunburn and having a right laugh, then finally got home at about 11.
So there we are
I don't know if you'll actually read all of it though
I miss it loaddsss, I've never had so much fun. I love how many people you just chat to and get on with and how easy it is to make friends and you're never alone. At night as well people call out to each other through the tents and just get involved in each other's conversations and gahhh I miss it so much! I am definitely going next year too, I couldn't not, it was definitely the best time ever, even today was amazing with the mad scabbing off the ground. The real world seems so alien now, when I got in I didn't really remember what my house looked like and carpet felt insane on my feet, and screens are too bright for me, TVs are too big and I miss sitting on the floor/leaping in a crowd and ah I want to go back so much.
