Ducky , can you give me a Maths lesson please and explain the odds for betting .
Oooh Darlo... I think I missed that day at uni.
My brother in law is a bookie and I've picked up a few bits and pieces though.... what's the problem?
I'm a Maths thicko, I just want to know what they are about .
Well it can all get a bit complicated.... but basically if the first number is smaller than the second that's bad.
I've just had a little look at Cairons odds (I'm assuming this is what sparked the question?) and it looks like he's a gonna. 1/33!!! That means you would have to bet £33 just to win a quid.
Freddies safe.
Cool that makes sense, then you would get the winnings after from the bookies wouldn't you , because you've put the £33 on him to go then you get the pound back.
Yeah... you would get £34 back. Your original winnings and your £1 profit.
You know how odds are always in two parts? Like 2/1 or 7/2? Well the first number is the amount you win for the amount you bet (the second number).
So if you bet and it was 2/1....if you put on a pound you would win £2 (profit) ...if you bet £5 you would win £10 (profit)...etc.
Hope that helped.
