We have that up here to this day (closing on different weeks for holidays ) it’s known as Fair weeks, eg, Glasgow Fair, Paisley Fair, Greenock Fair etc 

I was taken to Blackpool as a child to see the Illuminations, but apparently I fell asleep and missed the lot😂😂😂

Good idea ..give the hoi poloi their own pier

Mr Y loves when it’s Glasgow Fair because the M8 motorway is really quiet when he’s going to and from work.
