yes, mass ice would have kept most of it frozen, but it wont have traveled in that amount of mass by barge. I can understand when they got it underground, but how they heck did they accumulate so much coming in ships and barges without some of it melting

That's the problem, we're throwing too much out

Ditto ....and itchy blankets ....and my mum tucked us in so tightly you couldn’t even move

  My mum was the same - blooming hospital corners so the bed was like a straight jacket
