The Grand National starts today?  How far do they have to run? 

I remember a few years ago, my sisters fella organised a weekend trip to Chester races.  We signed up to go, bought all the finery for a day at the races.  Only to find out when we got there, he hadn't actually organised for us to go to the actual races, just to sit in a grotty little pub opposite a bookies.  So basically it was a trip to Chester while the races were on.  

I hope they had a decent vending machine there to while away the hours

the main race for these horses is Sat 4.15pm Cinds 

race distance is just over 4 miles

IIRC, Across the Bay was one of the leading three at the final jump, but couldn't keep up the pace on the run-in.
