Actually Tony Benn has just said something really interesting and right... nobody has voted for a government with a clear majority, maybe the best thing would be just to call another election.  This is going to end up with the Queen having to use her limited powers by asking one of the leaders (probably Cameron) to form a minority government.

I haven't seen so much of William Hague since he was leader, he's popping up everywhere at the moment!

I think it will inevitably be a Conservative/Lib-Dem coalition just looking at the numbers involved. If Labour, the Lib-Dems and every other MP they can lay their hands on they can't really command a convincing majority and every vote in Parliament could be touch and go. Added to that it seems that Scottish Labour MPs and SNP MPs hate each other with a passion that I was unaware of until yesterday.. (interesting what you learn when you pay attention ) and that would make it a very uneasy alliance.

A few Labour MPs are saying face defeat, get a new younger leader and revitalise into an effective opposition ready for the next election. Inevitably  the sort of cuts that anyone in power will have to make is not going to make any government popular and possibly come the next election Labour can command a majority all by themselves.. provided PR isn't in place by then

1618: Confusing signals coming from the Lib Dems. A frontbench Lib Dem source has told the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg that a deal between his party and the Tories will be announced later today. But, in response to the question, "Have the talks collapsed with Labour?" another Lib Dem insider has told our correspondent Mike Sergeant: "No. Our expectation is that talks will continue."
