30 people before getting married.College did a mini survey last week to us students asking us what party we would vote for and results were Conservatives in first with Liberal Democrats a close second with Labour a distant third.
Well facebook had Clegg well in the lead...but I have no idea what the statistical significance of that is
Whoever ends up in Number 10, is going to be faced with the prospect of alienating the electorate by being forced to make vicious cuts...before we have to ask the IMF to get us out of this mess we're in now.
The entire political system in this country is antiquated...what worked for Gladstone or Disraeli simply doesn't serve a purpose anymore....something has to be done from the ground up. There is no point in discussing PR or any other variations on that theme, because all politicians are motivated by self interest....they want to stay in power and keep their jobs. The outcome will be the promise of a referendum which will not take place..happened before and will happen again

Hopefully, whatever working arrangement they come up with has a time scale.. both a limit to please those not keen on the idea but also a decent period of stability, if possible, to keep those sodding 'markets' at bay and start to reduce the deficitZ.
The banks and the markets caused all this shit in the first place.
Not entirely, the Government has been spending 'beyond its means' for a while now which has added to our vulnerability

Probably Brown shares a little blame for letting 'em, but imagine the furore if he had interfered with the market economy.(HIZX)! I just got dressed though!
Here we go. I'm a little choked tbh
Me too suzy. He's had to commit ritual suicide. Guess we're going to need these now then.
I've just heard his statement. I haven't a clue what he meant.
Clegg has clearly asked Brown to step down in October as a condition of having formal discussions with the Labour Party now.
All my kids have just got back from their things....will check in later
Brown to quit as Labour leader Gordon Brown asks the Labour Party to start the search for a successor as formal talks are to open between Labour and the Liberal Democrats.

He just did. These things take time since there are all sorts of protocols and handovers to negotiate. The baffled Sun journalists wanted him out the next day. Bearing in mind Humphrey the number 10 cat died, whom did they think would have their finger on the nuclear trigger?
I feel a sense of hope ..... still holding on for a miracle!
A big Gamble..... a huge risk ..... but massive potential for the future of politics in Britain. Although the maths are really dodgy I genuinely believe that with a more natural fit between liberal and labour there is a greater chance that the relationship will hold .... and that can only benefit the national interest.
I even think the wily Mr Salmond will toe the line as he'd not want to be the one held responsible for letting the tories govern Scotland.

I think he resigned because of Nick clegg,... not to keep his dignity, he could have and should have done it immediatly if he wanted to keep that!!!......I think it is appalling that a man who holds only 57 seats can cause the resignation of a PM.....and my only hope is the Tories get a majority at the next GE...which hopefully will be soon...

about referendums.... are they a straight forward 'I get to vote... my vote is counted in the grand total' ?Unlike my other vote...... which never made it out of my village
Having given it some thought ......I hope we do have a Lab/Lib pact...then when this great country goes down the tubes( and I say when because it will only be a matter of time!! ) The Conservatives will then have the chance to bring it back to it's former greatness..

Absolutely Ditty... provided the referendum is able to ask the right question, having explained what we are voting for means beforehand! Just you wait until Murdoch gets his hands on this one... 'AV booooo! First past the post Yaaaaay!' Add Reply
