Was just watching sky news... protestors in background, some nutcase shouted
"sky news is sh*t"

It makes me laugh that the biggest looser out of the three main parties has got all the say who governs the country
that's the irony of it all, Clegg may of not got the votes & seats predicted, but he sure has the power at the moment,Reference:
I don't think Cegg has ever ruled out a deal with Labour, although he does seem to have ruled out Brown staying PM...
But the real knock out blow is that even Labour and Lib Dems together haven't got the magic 326 either.Reference:

I was just watching the Lib Dem spokesman updating the media on the negotiations ...and heard some bloke shout "sell out"

Yep but I think it'll be his undoing TBH. He's not going to be able to placate all his supporters and some will be left feeling very let down whichever way he goes.Come the next election I think he'll be stuffed ..............PAH! Wont deal with Labour if they're in third place ......doesn't do to believe your own publicity - sometimes reality comes back and bites you on the bum.

Well Marg, given how desperate the others are for power then it'll be interesting to see just how far they are prepared to compromise. Gotta say I find the whole thing absolutely fascinating

What he said was that the party with the biggest mandate had the right to try and form a government.

Me too Soops. It's the first time in ages I'm found politics interesting! It's given me the bug I can tell ya. Reference:

Perhaps he should be the one making demands ("This is what we Lid/Dems want. Which of you will offer it?)Reference:

This is a minefield for poor old NC!

I hope he does, but he doesn't come across that strong to me.

They're a lot closer than the Tories though, and between them they have 52% of the vote. Interesting that that gives them, between them, only 10 seats more than the Tories with 36.1% of the vote....As I said, I find the whole thing q fascinatingReference:

I have a feeling that would be exactly what was happening (behind the scenes) if Labour had enough seats to take a Lib Dem/Labour coalition over the 326. Those pesky "others" are causing NC to be a bit more cautious.
Ohhhhh BBC news now - NC getting a bit of a bad time

I think that the difference will be that Labour are likely to offer a true coalition with cabinet seats, can't see the Tories offering that...but we'll see....
Bet you want to hug him ducky, doncha

I do believe that's libel
"the BBC's James Landale says he's never seen a protest with placards of pie charts on them before, referring to the voting reform crowds."

Steak and Kidney or Chicken and Mushroom?
Does anyone care enough to take me through this PR guff again? My constituency was neck and neck Tory v Labour, both polled 19,000 plus. The Lib Dems were nowhere. If they work it out according to seats where would the extra Lib Dem MPs be based? Which sitting MPs would have to make way for them?
I think there would be more than one MP in each constituency Joe..... if it's pure PR they are going for. That's one of the biggest arguments against it. Maybe that means a change in boundaries to make bigger constituencies to compensate for that?
I know very little about it tbh...and would be interested to know the details too.

Update on BBC Election site, looks like negotiations are ongoing..... Gordon Brown was talking to the SNP leadership yesterday and they were trying to broker a deal.. I imagine that if the LibDems then broker a deal with Labour, that will give them a working majority.
PR is looking more and more likely at the next election I think. This is all fascinating, but it needs to be sorted out very soon.
1705: The unclear aftermath of the general election is set to continue into a third day, with the Liberal Democrat and Conservative negotiation teams due to meet at 1100 BST on Sunday.
