I fancy one of those new cook in the oven fish bag meals that are being advertised ....
I want to know has anyone tried them ???

are they Yummy or Not worth the money ...??????

I fancied getting a salmon one with some new pots and Broccaloi... Thumbs Up

I'm no lady Mr Strutter but I know how to cook a good meal and if you're on your own the only person you can impress is yourself.

Guaranteed this is cheaper than Stella Thumbs Up

Pan of water with a dash of oil & pinch salt.
Put your Spaghetti in.
Add a handful of frozen peas.
Add Salmon/Prawns/Cod (or tin of tuna later)
Drain off most of water then add
Chopped tomatoes, chilli powder, parsley, basil.
Tin tuna if you've not used fresh fish.
Good stir making sure it's not burning.

You can add anything that takes your fancy and maybe sprinkle some cheese on top ~ I love that crumbly Lancashire stuff Thumbs Up

No - he reckons it's the sun shining through the trees on his way home - he gets it bad this time of day and this time of year - so it makes sense.

He'll have to get a job in the other direction - so that he's not facing the sun on the way home Cool

I've just had poached egg on toast for the first time in ages and it was really good Thumbs Up

Spotted this earlier,it made me smile cause I can't see anyone buying one and if they did then ever use it more than once ?

A new classic breakfast-maker, the Egg & Muffin Toaster puts a poached egg on toast in one single four-minute motion. The egg-poaching surface also doubles as a heater for precooked breakfast meat.

I'm overrun with Beetroot, they are coming out of my ears, been trying to eat some so that I don't have to throw too many away.
May need a few suggestions what to do/ways to eat them
Had one straight out of the pan, that was Ok, have some sliced in vinegar, have about 6 whole but cooked in the fridge, have a load in the garden waiting to be uprooted.

I'll give away what I can, have about 10 left in the veg patch, only bought a small thingy with them growing in, had to separate them and plant them out, and they all came up, bit of a shock I can tell you.

This looks like an interesting accompaniment to a curry.

Beetroot and Cream Cheese Samosa

Ingredients

300ml/Â― pint vegetable oil, for deep frying
1 cooked beetroot (not in vinegar), peeled and chopped
100g/3Â―oz cream cheese
Spices to taste (salt, cumin powder, chilli powder and freshly ground black pepper)
6 sheets ready-made filo pastry
55g/2oz butter, melted

Method

1. Place the vegetable oil into a deep, heavy-based saucepan and heat until a small cube of bread sizzles and turns golden when dropped into it.

2. Mix the beetroot and cream cheese together in a large bowl and season to taste.

3. Lay one filo pastry sheet onto a work surface and brush with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again with butter. Continue layering up the filo sheets.

4. Cut the pastry into six equal strips. Place a teaspoonful of the beetroot mixture at the end of each strip and fold up into triangles. Brush the end of the strip with melted butter and press the edges to seal well. Repeat with the rest of the filo strips to make six samosas.

5. Carefully place the samosas into the hot oil and deep fry for five minutes, or until golden-brown. Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on kitchen paper.

6. To serve, pile the samosas onto a serving plate.

I thought I might try my hand at making Meatloaf (cue the music)as I've never had it before...it's not a popular dish in the UK and I'm about to find out why Big Grin

Meat loaf in tomato sauce

1 kg minced beef
250g bread crumbs
2 tbs chopped parsley
60g parmesan - grated
4 eggs
olive oil
1 medium onion - finely chopped
1 clove garlic
4 cans plum tomatoes
handful of basil leaves
salt and pepper

Mix together the meat, bread crumbs, parsley, parmesan, eggs, salt and pepper

Form into a large oval meat loaf.

Fry the loaf in a large casserole until it's golden-brown on all sides.

In a seperate pan, fry the onion in olive oil until golden. Add the garlic and fry for another couple of minutes.

Add the tomatoes, break up with a wooden spoon and cook over a medium heat for about ten minutes.

Add the sauce to the meat loaf, cover and simmer for around an hour.

Towards the end of cooking, remove the lid to allow the sauce to thicken.

Let the meat loaf rest for ten minutes before serving.

If mine turns out looking like this I'll be quite happy.

That meatloaf sounds nice Heatseek.wavey

You say it's not popular here, maybe it needs to be cooked in a curry sauce.

And thanks for the Beetroot & Cream Cheese Samosa, just love them, but not easy to make really.
But they would be lovely.

When working in Germany, we used to get a snack/meal at a little shop front, he served like a massive burger, almost a meat loaf, it was bigger and thicker that I have ever seen, about 50mm, it was cooked in a vat of pretty thin curry sauce, but maybe they had been cooked before they were put in, I don't know, can't remember what we called them either.

But when you got one of those with a bag of chips or something they were great.

Thanks for your feedback Hicky Thumbs Up

I cooked the Meatloaf following the recipe above (I reduced the quantities by half) and found it was quite enjoyable although a bit heavy for a summer dish.

I thought the sauce was in need of serious spiciness so I added a fair bit of chilli powder and then got to thinking about what Hicky said regarding curry sauce and decided I should have made an Indian Kofta dish instead. Big Grin
