Why make a curry that is too hot for you? A raitha (raita, or pachadi) is only offered when the taste of the eater is unknown with regard to "spicy heat" (it cools the heat of the spice). If you know your spice tolerance, then why make the curry "hotter" than you can accept?

My curry wasn't too hot for me but thanks for the background info on raitha, interestingly enough Cucumber is not included in authentic versions of the dish, because Ayurvedic tradition considers a mixture of cucumber and yogurt to be harmful to the body.

roast beef
yorkshire pudding
potatoes
assorted veg
gravy
horseradish sauce
followed by: apple and strawberry lattice with custard.

the yorkshires have risen really well. I have done an extra one for you.
veg are green beans out my mates allotment, carrots and brocolli.
