Cariad, the reason you were thinking of Brigitte Bardot rather than Raquel Welch would probably because BB was in the Roger Vadim film "And God Created Woman" made 10 years earlier than One Million Years BC (the Raquel Welch dinosaur film). Although a title like "And God Created Woman" would tend to make one think of Adam and Eve and prehistoric times, it was actually set in modern times. But as the following photos from the 2 films show, it's easy to confuse the two.

Plus I'm sure I read somewhere that schools in the US are allowed to teach Creationism as a legitimate theory

Interesting theories Cariad and Veggie, I'd be inclined to agree with both.

Was that just an excuse to post pics of them in their bikinis? Yes...BB was married to Vadim wasn't she?

There's nothing new about the battle between teaching Creationism and Darwinism in the American education system. There was a famous trial in 1925 known as the monkey trial where a teacher was put on trial for daring to teach Darwinism. This was filmed in 1960 as the Stanley Kramer film "Inherit the Wind" with Spencer Tracy and Fredric March, along with other well known actors.Although creationism is no longer permitted to be taught in public schools in the States, that doesn't stop its popularity and apparently only 40% of Americans believe in Darwinism.
There's a lot of Home Indoctrination Schooling in the US of A.

Wot me . Never - this was a serious post analysing two films which have had a major impact on our culture over the last 50 years. Yes...BB was married to Vadim wasn't she?
Now if I had posted this photo from a well known film from the same era, that could be taken as utterly irrelevant and just an excuse and I could be justly condemned. Ursula Andress in Dr No of course.
Yes you're right - BB was married to Roger Vadim at the time.
I'm wondering what would happen, if both Creationism and Darwinism were proved false ( hypothetical I know)

The scientists would embrace the new theory and the creationists would stick to their 'truth'.
Dave has clearly spent to much time in the States!

So if it's all false does that mean when there's thunder and lightening it's not God moving his furniture in heaven or switching on an off the lights?

In fact between BB and JF he was married to Annette Stroyberg who appeared in some of his films. And after JF he was married to Marie-Christine Barrault who also appeared in some of his later films.
He must have set some sort of records for being married to his stars.

Don't be daft...it was always Thor who did that sort of stuff
All this reminds me of my sister putting in an RE exam that Moses parted the Red Sea to help the Jews escape Hitler....
