I have done rag rug making or clippy/proggy mat making as some might know it by. It is very therapeutic and a great way to use up oddments of material and even old clothing. What basically was a necessity in days gone by so that people could have some kind of covering on their floor is now very artistic and some of the work done is amazing

I think the one my hubby's doing is a disney character, not sure what company the kit is though.
Shame you don't get time to do it anymore but maybe when you've retired you'll be able to take it up again Big Grin
It is after all very rewarding to produce things of beauty for the home Nod

Yogi (it's Claire Lou here) do you remember that cross stitch you showed me - the wedding one - through a father's eyes or something? Well I'm still only about a fifth through that - it was really hard Blush

I'm almost finished a flower fairy one though - the mallow fairy. I am having an op on wed and have to have a few weeks off work so my hubby bought me another fairy one to do while I'm off Big Grin

Ooooooh...a craft thread....yaaaayyyyyyy!!!

I love my crafts...card making, scrapbooking and flower arranging are my faves!

I've got 100 Orders of Service to make for my sis-in-laws wedding in 6weeks!!!! I did her invitiations and all that...just the OoS to go.

I have had stall at both craft fairs and farmers markets selling my wooden flowers displays....it's brilliant fun! My fave craft though, is scrapbooking as the end result is very personal but sooooo spectacular and rewarding. I love it!

Hmm, I think I might hang around here while BB is on (it's manic Crazy next door).

I have credentials, honest; I do a lot of cross-stitch, tapestry, rugmaking, and sewing; I can spin (with a drop spindle) and weave (a bit...)but I never got the hang of crochet, and I haven't knitted since I was a child (I sort of forgot how after my gran died...).
And (if it counts), I'm fairly good at origami and bonsai too...

Do I qualify for this thread?

Some really nice stuff on here Eeker Thumbs Up

I used to make handmade cards too. I started it as a hobby when I was on Maternity leave with my youngest son who's now 4. I made quite a bit cash from it to with people wanting to order cards and get them personalised.

I also started ordering in bulk and selling cards along with the gear for making them.

When I returned to work though I just didn't have the time to keep it up Frowner My Mum and a few other family members still make cards, some are really stunning Thumbs Up

I've always loved arts and crafts though, even at school, it was actually a thing I was good at Red Face

I also like sewing. I've never made clothes but have made curtains and adjusted them, nipped and tucked some clothes and bags, added beads etc to stuff just to make things different, I usually also sew by hand. If I ger a nice but material I like to make cushions and pillows for my therapy room or caravan.

As money was mentioned here, having a hobby can be expensive but alot of the time you can get things in Poundland and places alike. Ok it may not be professional stuff and you will still have to go to specialist places for some stuff, but for beads, sticky pads etc, Poundland or similar places Thumbs Up

An example last Saturday my Mum came to shop at my neck ot the woods as she likes the craft shop. She got loads of toppers, backing papers etc which were a small fortune. She was looking at beads, sticky gems and stuff around ÂĢ2-ÂĢ3 for a very small bag. I told her to go to Instore or Poundland first and if they didn't have them then we'd come back. Well we went to Poundland and she didn't have to go back for her beads, sticky Gems or pads - she got them all there.

I know some people prefer the real McCoy but it's HOW you make the card, not always what's on it Wink

I sometimes make Jewelery and phone charms. Not much, again just with beads I get in sets.

Mike - you need to make me a bracelet! and by the way you'd be surprised at how many guys are into crafts. As you know I work in a Naval base part time and the amount of guys who do cross stitch, sewing, knitting you'd be surprised. Eeker

I was working on making a Bear out of Pipe Cleaners, but the snotty woman in the craft shop kept insisting I called them "Chenille Sticks" and shouted at me when I said "They look like pipe cleaners to me" so I'm not going back there Disappointed

So I'll work on making clothes for Basil

Basil's the Man... yes. Well I guess the lady could have been Basil, if she had cruel parents, but she's a doll, so she didn't.
I'm making him a black Tuxedo, as the one I wanted to buy him on eBay went for nearly ÂĢ80.
I'm not spending ÂĢ80 on dolls little people's clothing!
