No painting is boring as it all has a personalized character. Some of the landscape art I've seen is absolutely stunning. There are plenty of those type of artist around here so I've seen quite a few different styles.

You`re right fairy_suzie, it`s incredible how a group of people can paint the same subject, yet they can all be completely different.

I used to belong to my local Art Society, and really enjoyed it, (And entered my very first exhibition, and was amazed when my painting was sold!) but, along with quite a few others, resigned, as a lot of "precious" people joined, and it took all the fun out of it.

But I joined another local Art group, and met some lovely and very talented people there, and learnt so much too.

I guess I`m what you would call a "Sunday" painter, and don`t paint so much anymore, but still do some for friends and family.

I do xstitch. I would love to try dressmaking and my biggest regret is that i didn't decide i enjoyed sewing before my granny passed away, she was a seamstress until well into her 80's

Oh dear then I guess that would be a problem Laugh

Dressmaking is fairly easy the trick is not to be too ambitious so you don't lose heart when it goes wrong Big Grin
I made all my daughter's dresses when she was a baby with matching nickers of cause Big Grin

Yes, I agree it is best to chose a simple pattern first and avoid garments with sleeves, zips or buttons/bttonholes until one is accomplished and has mastered the basics. Most places run beginners courses in community centres, school halls etc. Good luck

Oh that is very interesting and very different. There was a TV programme about that last year. You weren't in the programme by any chance were you? It certainly looks like an art and so much attention to detail. The people who bought the dolls were a little bit spooky I thought though

I lost my stitchy bug for a while and although it is back i am finding it hard to find the time i would like to sit down and crack on with my latest project, which is my parents wedding photo.

Are you scrapbooking your parents wedding album or just relocating the photographs in a new album?

Reborn dolls are very life like dolls and not toys as such. They are intended for adults. Kinda collectors items I suppose. They can be made in the likeness of a particular child with the assistance of photographs etc. Lots of fine details go into them. I expect y ou can get them online to buy if you google it. Whilst the actual dolls were an art form the people who actually bought them in the TV programme mentioned earlier were very strange, to say the least. Hope that helps.

One of our local shops...the peeps that make them are called 'Design Works' they do a lot of kits that have the Indian type sayings on them.

I buy most of my kits from ebay though...just bought my next project - it's a tulip design table runner....probably take me the next 10 years to complete it mind you! Big Grin

But who knows I may win the lottery one day and be able to get them all done Big Grin

If they are cross stitch you can stretch them over stiff cardboard to set them and stitch them across the back to pull them taught.... buy the mount for the edges yourself...off to a market for some frames and hey presto...you're already to show off. Thumbs Up

See ^^^ we are on a budget too..... Hug

...so says her - who's work is still in the bottom of her sewing bag! Ninja

It would be the ideal plan Big Grin
But I think I'll have a go at what Pixie said with a little project, and go from there Big Grin
