Sounds like a lovely morning for you Smiler

Enjoying him while I can, there is talk of him possibly going back to his parents in a few months. My heart may actually physically break Crying

Are you a foster carer TV?

Hugmy heart goes out to you - I can't imagine what it would be like to give up a child you'd loved and cared for Frowner

The older ones are great, I have my 12 year old going home to his mum next week and that is just wonderful Clapping I didn't want to do babies because I knew it would be too hard, but I was only meant to have him for 2 weeks. Ah well, you live and learn and I will never foster another baby. I may adopt one though Ninja

We looked at fostering to the point that we spent 2 days at an induction session - it was very thorough in making you aware of what was involved. We eventually decided not to proceed, for various reasons, but I was quite sad at making that decision. For me most of it was I thought I'd have difficulty with the emotional impacts it might have.

I hope that you can take comfort in knowing you gave him a good start in life. Hug

I can understand to a certain extent. My sister's girls are addopted and they were in foster care before my sister adopted them and the foster mother would have liked to be able to adopt them herself, but was told she was too old.
It has always puzzled me how you can be too old to adopt but not too old to foster. Confused

It's all a bit strange Fluffyone. Now that we want to adopt, I need to fill in forms, attend prep classes and go through another home study to do what amounts to looking after an ex-foster child. Although if a child I am fostering comes up for adoption, my social worker just fills in a few boxes and I can do so.

I'm sure your nieces love their home and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Kids are so adaptable.

We applied years ago but the time wasn't right. It has to feel 100% right so you did the right thing Hug Doesn't mean you might change your mind and do it in the future.

Oh they do. They live in Dorset now, not far from Poole. So they have the seaside not far in one direction and woods and countryside not far in the other. And a silly big floppy golden retriever to play with everywhere. Big Grin
