Play it safe and opt for M&S or Waitrose.

Can't beat Lewis and Cooper Christmas pud' imo, love it http://www.lewisandcooper.co.u...re/plum_puddings.asp

Now that reads really nice

Too late for me though as I already have more than enough pud - my lot aren't that keen.  Then there's those who don't like too much 'peel' or too much of something else or another.  The list of don'ts and won'ts is endless.  I've got 2 F&M ones and then next year they can bring their own!

And don't get me started on drip feeding it with a bit of added brandy - or dousing it either

some silly b@stard in the pub said come round as early as you can

That silly b@stard really ought to be escorted to and from the pub (and gagged) at certain times of the year....

one 'guest' stayed for 3 days and only lived up the road..she left, i cheered, only for mate to say shes gone home for a shower, she'll be back, the woman stayed and ate our food, watched films drank our booze and never spoke FOR 3 DAYS..

Sounds like the old dear who slept behind the sofa in Gavin & Stacey

(She was an in-laws rellie to be fair and not some random neighbour of nodding acquaintance)

WARNING - sometimes it's not a great idea to read a thread from the end back.     It's very disappointing when you realise this refers to Christmas Pud

When I read that I was  TMI, then I read the warning and I realised you were speaking about Christmas Pud!!
