Big Brother 1: Sada Walkington
The very first series saw two girls nominated for the first ever eviction. Housemates nominated Sada and Caroline, with Sada receiving six votes to Carolineâs five. The public had the exciting opportunity to vote a housemate out for the first time, and had the choice between spiritual Sada and 'Caggy', the girl with the loudest laugh in the house. It was a close call in the end, with Sada being evicted with 55% of the vote. The wannabe yoga instructor was last spotted working as a waitress in a London bistro.
Big Brother 2: Penny Ellis
The second series had the exact same outcome after the first weekâs nominations, with two girls being up for the vote. The choice was between Penny, an eccentric school teacher, and bubbly Welsh hairdresser Helen. Penny edged out Helen with 58% of the vote, meaning that the series that most will remember for Helen and Paulâs romance so very nearly could have been very different. Helen eventually finished in second place behind Brian Dowling and enjoyed a showbiz romance with Paul..
Big Brother 3: Lynne Moncrieff
The third series was the first time a housemate left the show voluntarily before the first eviction, with Sunita walking. In terms of an official eviction, all the housemates faced the public vote in week one. Two girls received the most votes, with Lynne and Jade the unlucky contestants. The housemates were then asked to choose which one should leave and all nine picked Lynne. The third series, and the history of the entire show, could have turned out very differently if Jade was evicted at that first hurdle.
Big Brother 4: Anouska Golebiewski
The fourth series saw all of the housemates nominating one person for eviction only hours after entering the house, with anyone who received a vote being nominated. Only four housemates received votes; Scott, Jon, Federico and Anouska. Despite being in the minority, Anouska received the most votes from the public, with 45.9%. Her early departure was frequently blamed for the dive in ratings during the fourth year, and she was eventually given a second chance of sorts, taking part in the Australian Big Brother for ten days.
Big Brother 5: Vanessa Nimmo
The 'Evil Big Brother' series started in a messy and controversial fashion with Kitten being ejected and Emma & Michelle being given a 'fake eviction'. When the duo returned on the infamous fight night, the show got some of its highest ever ratings. However, the first real traditional public vote eviction of the series came in week three when Vanessa and Dan were nominated. The public voted for the student from Cape Town to leave, with a whitewash of 86%. Dan eventually came third.
Big Brother 6: Mary O'Leary
Despite nominations reverting to a more traditional format in the sixth series, all was not it seemed for the housemates. Makosi was randomly selected as the âunlucky thirteenthâ housemate and was given a task by Big Brother to make sure she received the most nominations in week one. She succeeded, and was then asked to choose two different people to be nominated for eviction. She selected Craig and Mary and the public decided to boot out the white witch with 60% of the vote.
Big Brother 7: Bonnie 'Bonneh' Holt
The first week of the seventh series saw several housemates receive immunity from eviction after being selected as part of the 'Big Brother Brotherhood'. This meant that only Bonnie, Dawn and Glyn faced eviction. Series seven was the first time that a male housemate was in any way the first to leave a series, with Shabhaz voluntarily leaving the show. The first official eviction, however, saw Bonnie being voted out over Glyn with 78%. Glyn, who mastered the art of boiling an egg in the house, eventually finished second.
Big Brother 8: Shabnam Paryani
In the first week of the eighth series, Ziggy was the only person allowed to nominate, choosing Emily and Shabnam. With Emily being ejected for using a racially offensive word on day nine, the eviction was cancelled. In week two, new housemates Seany and Gerry were the only two housemates allowed to cast a vote, and they were asked to choose two others to also nominate, selecting the twins Sam & Amanda. The result was an all girl lineup of Carole, Tracey and Shabnam, with Shabnam being evicted with a huge 81.4%.
Big Brother 9: Stephanie McMichael
Series nine saw another twist with the first eviction. The first four housemates to enter the house - Mario, Lisa, Luke and Stephanie - had to convince the rest of the group that Mario was in a relationship with Stephanie rather than Lisa. For failing the task, the four were put up for eviction. Stephanie received the most votes from the public with 48%. She went on to strip off for lads' mags and attempted to launch her pop music career by auditioning for The X Factor.
Big Brother 10: Sophia Brown
The tenth series also had a twist in its first week. Instead of an eviction vote, the public were choosing which five people should become official housemates. Beinazir received the least votes, and was the first to be evicted. However, as she was not technically classified as a housemate, we're not sure it counts. In terms of an official traditional eviction, Sophia and Freddie were nominated with six votes each. Self-proclaimed 'pocket rocket' Sophia was then axed with a massive 91.2%.
