My understanding is that the parties rely more on the results from direct canvassing (i.e. phone calls & doorstep hopping...where they can account for names), whereas some polls are based solely on asking passing randoms in the high street.

Always is Fluffs, Sunderland is normally one of the first in with the results, and I don't think it will ever change from the reds 

Call me old fashioned but I don't see anything positive about UKIP having more votes than the Tories, especially in the top right.

It's not so much that they've nicked a few Tory votes, it's the fact that it's oop norf that surprises me
