I stopped listening to the Archers over the summer but I'll give tomorrow a listen.

I hazard a guess that Helen would be run over. By a cow.

I listen every day Brisket Not sure what the episode is going to be..... but like Charli says , it could be something to do with Helen, her dad and the baby.... But I will certainly be listening tomorrow

I've never listened to it at all,but then I rarely listen to the radio at all.I can't be arsed with the inane chatter on it.

Some of the twists and turns in the storylines have annoyed me in the past.
The producers and writers get an idea and make use of it, but  by doing that they transform a character into something they never were nor never would be. They have often adopted some incredulous storylines and character changes, with disregard for the personality and characteristics of the character. An insult to the listener in my opinion. Yet I keep listening.

So I shall listen with anxiety tomorrow, wondering if it will be truly believable and shocking, or if it will stretch our common sense to the limit.  

I agree Brisket...  For example,  I am sick of the Helen storyline...... But I did just have a thought..... and wonder if the storyline will be about Fallon and Harry.... cos I did consider, listening to last night's  episode, whether they were lining it up for Harry to be gay....

I agree about the Helen storyline Baz. I am heartily fed up with it. 

I hadn't considered the Harry/Fallon twist - but I could cope with that.

I saw the actress (June Spencer) in an interview on the news talking about The Archers 60th anniversary. Sheis 91 years old!

I knew she was quite old Brisket... after all she's been in the prog for decades now... but I didn't know she was that old Maybe we will find out that Harry has been having an affair with Linda Snell I just hope  they don't go the TV soap route, and that there is no big disaster, like the Bull blowing up or something, and they end up killing off characters Unless they want to get rid of Helen, or Kathy, or Susan Carter

Oh Baz   you are testing me.    The Harry & Linda Snell idea does have a certain fascination.
I agree with your main points though.
Whatever they do I want it to be believable, not far-fetched or too melodramatic.

I'm a huge Archers fan.  Looking forward to this 'shocking' episode and have no idea who or what it concerns.  I hope it involves something unpleasant happening to the smug Shula but my money would be on a Helen-related thing..

(I hope it isn't going to be a tram/plane crash-type scenario.  That would not be good )

We listen to the omnibus on Sunday morning and are want to shout insults at Helen. "silly cow!" is one of the few I can put in a family thread such as this one!

You're not the only one that screams at the radio about her Champagne  If I was Tony I would give her a good talking to!

I too say harsh things about Helen to my radio.
This particular story thread seems to drag on and on. I think I get the message without hearing it repeated like a loop.
Her extreme stubborness and bitterness towards her father is beginning to look like a script-writers obsession. I now dislike her more than mardy-voiced Pip (who has still not told the truth to her Mum and Dad about sneaking off to Newquay to be with Jude.)
They drop a storyline for a long time and then pick it up again when it suits them.
The rift between Kenton and Jamie apparently goes on unresolved and seems to be nothing that a bit of honesty between them wouldn't cure.

I'm a regular reader and rare contributor to Mustardland, the Archers message board. Over there, they call Helen "the Thin Controller". Harsh!

Oh, and I'm hoping that the SATTC storyline will be Will Grundy running amock with his shotgun.

I wonder if there's an archers podcast? 15 mins a day would be easy to follow I still miss sunset beach and that's been extinct for years! I think the location made me feel like I was on holiday..

This is a (lengthy)  article in the Daily Mail on Line - but it is perhaps best not to read it if you don't wish to see any hints which may spoil the programme for you.
