I read somewhere, a couple of days ago, that the BBC are going to be changing the format of The Apprentice. Could it go the same way as the USA version?

I watched a couple of episodes of The Apprentice USA last night on BBC 1 and was quite surprised at how different AND reality gameshowy (its a word!!!) it was.

Firstly there's the intro, which is this:

Yes, those are the contestants of The Apprentice USA and not some American Drama T.V show.

Secondly, there is what happens to the losing team each week.  When a team loses they get punished by having to live in the Garden of the mansion that the Winning team stay in.  They sleep out there, eat out there and go toilet out there.  There is also a fence (ala BB 3's divide) separating the groups, so they can only talk each other. They have to stay in the garden until they win a task.

Finally, the project manager of the Winning Team sits in on the board meeting and helps Donald Trump fire one of the candidates.

To me that just seems RE-DONK-U-LOUS (its a word!!). Would you like our Apprentice to go down that route?

Rawky I actually used to like the USA Apprentice more than the British one but they have revamped theirs. It never used to be a Big Brother style format where there was "rich and poor" sides - it's put me off the USA one now (the one being broadcast here at the moment is the 2007 series)

I hope ours doesn't go the same way.

I watched the US version last night and I considerably prefer our version.  The US version seemed altogether more vacuous and more like a reality show.  I watched the fawning over untalented buffoon, Snoop Dog with some surprise at the homogenised celebrity worship of a mediocre rap star.  I couldn't imagine our lot fawning all over Coldplay. I hope they stick to the British format.

I agree, I've not seen the US version for some time, but I think I too preferred the US version originally.  As it's been a while since I've seen the US version, I thought that either I'd become acclimatised to our version or they'd changed the format for the worse.

Considering their very thorough selection process, I've that most of the contestants have already been 'established' in their field? Although the business acumen of some have raised my eyebrows on a few occasions
