In the opening game New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 98 runs.
New Zealand 331/6
Sri Lanka 233 all out
In the second game Australia are currently thrashing England.
Australia 342/9
England 116/6 after 28 overs
England would be expected to get through to the quarter finals but I can't see them getting through to the final.
England 231 all out
Australia win by 111 runs
A great opening day for both hosts but a dismal start from an England perspective.
Day 2
South Africa beat Zimbabwe by 62 runs.
South Africa 339/4
Zimbabwe 277 all out
India beat Pakistan by 76 runs
India 300/7
Pakistan 224 all out
A shock result on Day 3 as Ireland beat the West Indies!
West Indies 304/7
Ireland 307/6 from 45.5 overs.
England - pathetic, On present form will struggle to win any match.
It wasn't great!
England 123 all out from 33.2 overs
New Zealand 125 for 2 in 12.2 overs
New Zealand won by eight wickets
India destroyed South Africa earlier today.
India 307/7
South Africa 177 all out (40.2 overs)
India won by 130 runs
Come on Scotland!
Finally England win!
Flash in the pan!
Looking at table A, looks at present that New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Australia will qualify out of the group stage with the other qualifier being most likely to be Bangladesh or England. Bangladesh play Scotland tonight so a Scotland win would help England's chances. The Bangladesh England match could well decide which qualifies. Bangladesh's last group match is New Zealand and England's is Afghanistan.
England knocked out of the world cup having been beaten by Bangladesh. One match left and they could finish bottom of the table. If they beat Afghanistan (and that's far from certain) it will be their worst ever Word Cup and even if they win, it would be equal to their previous worst.
