For all the weeping forum aunties.
I feel a sulk coming on
Hope you have a really great time but I hope you know how much we will all miss you.
Good luck Rawky and the internet makes it a small world really.
Congrats Rawky ...Have a great time and enjoy every minute, you'll be on your way home before you know it!...
Rawky Roo! I am sure you will have a fabulous time out there.Of course there will be homesick moments, but, remember, we are only a couple of clicks away on the old interweb. I wish you lots of love and luck, and I hope it is everything that you hope it will be.
Good luck and have a great time!
Well done Rawky enjoy and stay safe
I am leaving. I am off to pastures new in the far away land of South Korea - to teach English.
I don't know my official flight dates yet, but I know its after the 24th and before the 30th, and providing nothing untoward happens, i shall be off.
Anyway, I'm still around for a week at least.

whoooooaaaaaaaaa! Is that as big as it looks?
How common are they? are they indoor spiders or outdoor spiders? Do they bite? Is their bite poisonous?
I can't google it... its too scary!

I don't know any of the answers. All i needed to know is they exist *cancels everything*
Nooooooooo... you can't boycott foreign places cos they have big spiders... you'll end up holidaying every year in a caravan in Aberystwyth!
You just need to find out where they hang out and avoid those areas...
Fine!
If i end up with one of those in my apartment, I'll mail it to you Ditty. If you promise to keep it as a pet, then I won't cancel my plans.
yeah... post it to me...
*rummages around to find Ducky's address*
anyway.. you can't back out..
do you know how jealous/excited/impressed Ickle is that you are going to S.Korea?
Her all time fave boy band - Big Bang are from S.Korea.. it isn't worth knowing what I don't know about the front man - G Dragon (he does have a very cute dog - best I can say about him)
I have been bombarded with K-Pop from the girls bedroom for many years now!
She has seen the spider pic... she is sitting here weighing up whether G-Dragon outweighs the mahoosive spider risk
Does that mean in order to impress Ickle, that I am gonna have to don a K-Pop Boyband haircut?
Is Ickle thinking of going to SK too?

She's always wanted to... and now she knows about you, and how possible it is, I can see her doing the TEFL when she's finished uni...
you are going to have to have a "Rawkys Adventures in SK" thread, and blog every little detail of it...
oh & re: hairstyles...
(G-Dragon is the bloke on the far right hahahaha)
Blimey Rawky .... bloody good for you
What an adventure .... Well done & I wish you well on your new venture x
I'M SOOOOO JEALOUSSSSS.
Literally. I kinda feel a bit sick I'm that jealous. I might have to do the same in a few years haha.
Hope you have fun... But I'm sure it'd be hard not to! It's just so damn cool!
Thanks Angel
Ditty, I highly recommend she thinks about doing it straight after Uni. It will be a great way for her to earn, and save, some money as a lot of things will be paid by the school.
Her best bet is to go through a company like EPIK:
http://www.gone2korea.com/publ...hool-korea/epik.html
I haven't gone through this company, as I was pointed an agency by a friend. But EPIK seem a lot more reliable and helpful, plus she will have a choice of going to a Public or Private School - most people recommend a Public school for job security.... I'm in a Private School where I don't get any school holidays off
Also, the TESOL course can be done online, but i'd advice doing the 4 week intensive course, as you actually get to teach for a week... its bloody intense though!
http://www.trinitycollege.co.uk/site/?id=293
She's bookmarked those links
and... HAHAHAHA at the idea that she would manage to save some of her earnings!!! HAHAHAHAHA! I just don't see that ever happening!

What is sitting on? if it's a little thing the size of a postage stamp you're fine. It looks likes its on the side of wall though. I'd unpack.
I've just watched a news report about a local woman who got back from her hols in Mexico and got bitten by scorpion that had stowed away in her suitcase.
DO NOT BRING ANY OF THOSE BACK TO THIS COUNTRY... if you go.
Of the 4,000 species of spiders in the world, approximately 100 can inflict a painful bite on a human. Only a few of these are found in Korea, and every one of them was originally imported from another country.

a couple of them are in this country!
I know this cos we had a False Widow Spider set up home in our conservatory - it has been evicted now.
and I found a woodlouse spider (another poisonous one) under a bag of compost in the garden!
both have poisonous bites... but, they are a tad smaller than Rawky's Korean friend

Ditty that is not what I wanted to hear!!!!!
How can you be so calm about finding them in your house??...

I soooooo wasn't at the time
especially after we googled them and words like "investation" & "nest sacks" came up!!!!
MrD was dispatched into the conservatory to go on a spider murdering spree!
and then we bought a couple of flea/insecticide smoke bombs & fumigated the conservatory overnight.
And now we inspect any spider web we see (false widow spiders build as very distinctive "tangle" web)
I soooo was not calm though... oh no! opposite of calm!
What's a false widow spider?
Is is a spider that just pretends her husband is dead when she's on the web?

hahahahaha.....
I bet there's a few of them around...
Aww Rawky - I hope you have a wonderful time and a great experience - surely if you are not going for a few days and will have the internet, we will not notice the difference?! Good luck with it - and come back quickly

Ooooo, good luck Rawky
Best of luck Rawky! Have a lovely time seeing and experiencing a different culture!
How exciting have a great time...looking forward to hearing about it when you get settled in.
Great news Rawky safe journey and enjoy
Have a great time, Rawky! Make sure you check in with us often. And I hope you still get time to watch films and post in the film thread!
And that spider pic, yikes that looks more like a tarantula to me!!
BTW Rawky, how long will it take you to settle in before you can start having guests?
*rummages around to find Ducky's address*
I was googling Korean spiders to scare the hell out of help Rawky ....and came across a site called "spiderzrule.com"
Anyway....scroll down Rawky...third unidentified spider down is from South Korea. The text says his body is 5-8 INCHES long! But personally I think they're lying More like 10.
Oh.....and congratulations!!!
A goodbye, farewell, and good luck pressie:
oh oh oh I've got a great photo of a spider I saw when I was in Canada. I'm just checking my photobucket to see if it's stored in there. If not you'll have to wait until I get home to be delighted by it's yellow and blackness.
