They want us dead Katty - make no mistake.  In 2011 10,600 people who were found fit for work by ATOS died. The figures for 2012 haven't been released yet.

You only get JSA for a short period of time now as well and you're expected to do workfare for your JSA - how do you look for jobs and do workfare at the same time?  It wouldn't be so bad except there never is a job at the end of workfare because they terminate you and then get someone else from workfare.  So you're working for about ÂĢ2 an hour because you're expected to work 40 hours a week the only ones benefiting from this are the firms that use this slave labour.

One of my friend's daughters worked for 6 months at New Look - enjoyed it though the work was tough.  She worked 40 hours per week and was promised a job at the end of her time there.  Sure enough they offered her a job - 8 hours per week!!  Who can live on 8 hours a week???

If companies continue to keep using workfare, there will never be serious jobs for people to get experience at and a job at the end.  The alternative is agencies or firms that are only offering zero contract hours which are no good for man nor beast

you can bet your life on the minimum wage being cut as well as working tax credit, child tax credit and child benefit.  I wouldn't be surprised either if housing benefit is cut even further or stopped for anyone who works   Once the Condems have finished with the sick and disabled, he will turn his attention to the low paid

They've already got their eye on it.  The dripping tap of the right wing commentariat will see to that.  Before long it will be hailed as a patriotic crusade to abandon the minimum wage that is making us so 'uncompetitive'.

IMO, neither side has come out of this at all well, and only the BBC - stuck in the middle as usual - deserve any credit whatsoever.

I've already commented on another forum about the irony of the right-wing press - fresh from fighting pressure to reform post-Leveson with a "freedom of the press" defence - demanding that the BBC should effectively censor itself...

Carnelian has put a very interesting slant on it. Call me an old fashioned Marxist but I always follow the money and all I could see was cash been removed from the arse pocket of foolish young consumers and ending up in the arse pocket of American Capitalists. Don't be concerned about us not being able to listen to the er, choon on the electric wireless, since a lot of us already know it and are well aware of the general situation. Those extremely hip people who downloaded it can listen to it to their hearts content, and have a great time getting down to the beat.

They don't need 'the chance', they're not politicians who should lead by example, they're people who experienced Thatcherism first hand and have a visceral anger at the woman being held up as a saint by the monied right wing establishment.

Downloading a tune from iTunes really doesn't make you as bad as Thatcher!

Don't forget that only a week ago Dave and Gideon were standing on the corpses of dead innocent children to sell benefit cuts to the applause of the right wing press that is now crying foul.

That's the thing about the right wing press, it can dish it out in spades but just offend their any of their sacred cows!

What does that say about the mentality of people nowadays? It's quite disheartening to see the level of venom directed at her.

What does dancing on the graves of children who died in a house fire tell you about the mentality of our press and leaders?

If you want my answer, what I will say is I'd sooner dance on the grave of Thatcher than dead innocent children!

Does one person's vile behaviour warrant or justify anothers?

That song and people dancing in the street are a disgrace.

Ah, well now...

Arguably it was Thatcher who allowed certain sections of the press (notably Murdoch) to get away with a heck of a lot and wield an unprecedented amount of power for decades,..

Eugene's Lair

The right wing media only wants debate as long it gets to be the moderator every time.

Look at the huff it got into when Kate Middleton was called a 'plastic princess designed for breeding'.  How indignant it was.

A few weeks later it prints a picture of dead children under the heading "Vile Product of the Welfare State".  "Man who bred 17 babies by 5 women..."

But that's ok because they're just 'bred' by 'dole scum', so must therefore inherit his qualities automatically, right?  Not children who died in a house fire, just reduced tomorrow's 'dole scum'.

Yes, they are and were always her vultures.  She allowed Murdoch to monopolise the press and get away with lies because those lies helped her party.  In return he corrupted and debased political debate for the purpose of promoting their shared neo-liberal ideology.  David Cameron is leader of her party.  So yes, it is her fault.

What's a disgrace is the forces of the right wing establishment couldn't bury her quietly out of respect for the people she brought misery to, but had to ram down their throats a full guns blazing, no expenses spared political rally to rub their noses in it.

Don't blame the people for being less than perfect if you're not going to blame the establishment when they behave far worse.

I think we've had to endure plenty of shite lefty protest songs down the years, some might say more than enough,  this time round it's in bad taste and quite nasty,  and it's a shit song anyway.

Just download the Witch Is Dead song and listen to it to your hearts content.

Just download the Witch Is Dead song and listen to it to your hearts content.

And just bury Thatcher in a private ceremony and stop putting rightist propaganda rallies on the tax payer.

Who is the 'we' anyway, you and the Daily Mail!  Well, in a democracy, that would usually be tough and put down to freedom of speech but you don't want that, you want to ban what you don't like.  It doesn't work both ways, because you don't want banned the things other people don't want.

Whether you think it's shitty or left wing is irrelevant.  Bad taste is to ram a triumphalist neo-liberal rally down people's throats and charge the tax payer for it - like something out of the Third Reich.  If songs were banned for being shitty, that would ban 70% of the top 40!

It's certainly no more nasty than planting your soap box on the graves of dead children to argue for benefit cuts.  I don't see the Daily Mail being banned.  Should the Daily Mail be banned?

Let it go FFS! Just let then get on with burying their hero without any further fuss. 10 mega poond is nothing in the great game of things. Most of the comment has come across as being rather mean spirited. Surely we're better than that. As for the music, it has been given a better send off than one could ever imagine, and it's shite. What was wrong with Shipbuilding?

It's not 1983 when we had 3 channels on the telly. Plenty of other choices so no reason to be bothered by it. I think people "like" to be bothered with things like this. A bit like people who watch controversial programmes just so they can complain.  Personally I have no problem with "us" paying for it. For arguments sake lets say my taxes go toward her funeral and yours go toward healthcare. I bet there are just as many people agree with me as there are agree with you. So who's right and who's wrong? Is it a case of right and wrong or is it people dwelling on the past and blaming one woman for all the wrongs in this country?Royal weddings, the Olympics, keeping Rose West in prison, feeding clothing and housing all the illegal immigrants? Let's get real and deal with ACTUAL problems rather than dwelling on the past and trying to change it

that must have been in talks with the labour Government at the time. . weren't they the ones in power then so they'd be overseeing it if she had popped her clogs earlier.. but by all means blame the current one for their massive overspend to cover security for those causing trouble with their disgusting behaviour ..

Loved or hated she was an influential PM of recent times.. don't mourn by all means but don't be dancing on a dead persons grave either, that is just sick..

We've just spent a fortune on the Olympics. . 10 M is a mere pittance compared to that..  would have been even less if the looney left hadn't started kicking off

and yeah I am back to thinking of them as looney left, this past week has just confirmed it to me, with a few exceptions.. a more scarier and aggressive lot I have yet to see..   I'm a middle of the road person and usually prepared to listen to both sides, recent behaviours have put me off that..
