Honestly? I've seen it reported many times before now.
I'm not sure how I feel TBH - I always used to say I'd jump up and down etc. - she was an old lady - lost her marbles at the end (if not before ). I'm oddly not elated as I always thought/said I'd be.

Yep, I have just seen it on the news. She had a stroke....
Good riddance,I'm not going to mourn her one bit.
I'm not delighted, but I certainly won't mourning her demise
The Thatcher Legacy Joe
Maltby Coilery closed only the other day. My great uncles and great grandad worked that pit. I felt a tad nostalgiac - my mum was telling me only the other day how they all used to support each other if a man was ill/sick. People would leave eggs/bread/groceries in a basket out side the front door - put small monetary contributions in too.
It's a different world - MT was responsible for many of the changes but .................time rolls on.
Apparently she is going to be buried with, and I use the phrase loosely, a "state funeral" on a par with the burials of The Queen Mother and Diana..

That is true..
Time does roll on Soozy but I have read and heard of miners in families who still dont talk to eachother now because some went back to work and "broke" the strike...

Edit. Change "state" to "ceremonial" funeral....
RIP Mrs Thatch.. Controversial woman but at least she did what she said and didn't spin anything..
First and only woman Prime Minster of our so called equal ops British Society. . no chance of another on the horizon for gawd knows how long.. Truly a formidable woman.. . Not afraid to tackle striking bullies holding the country to ransom for even more money than they already got. . I remember the power cuts due to the miner strikes and the three day week, for some not us that had to carry on regardless. . was sitting at work with a candle trying to carry on wearing coats, scarves and gloves cos it was winter as well as being dark... . I was wishing I earned even half of what the striking buggers took home. . was not a nice job for anyone but they certainly got paid enough for it. .
I know she made some terrible mistakes as well, but what PM didn't/doesn't? She actually tried to share the wealth around. . it backfired a lot I know... we lost public utility companies and other public services to the private sector and now suffer from profit oriented providers.. and other legacies form her time. .but at least she tried something different as opposed to these clones we have nowadays who appear to all belong to the same party.. the 'I want to lead the country and sod the people' party.. ..
I really hope all the 'I'll dance on her grave' people I've seen say they'll do so in the past do it in private cos first and foremost she was a Mother and grandmother and leaves 2 children and grandchildren who are no doubt mourning her death
The more I see of this the more angry I feel...she sold everything we had inclucing council housing stock, the councils were not allowed to use that money to build new social housing, we are still living with her legacy, great PM my foot... last year whilst London was burning, Davey boy and Gideon were on holiday, it took him three days to come back. Margaret Thatcher dies and he's heading home and cancelled all his meetings in Europe . Another great photo opportunity for Davey boy to say how great Britain is/was under tory rule. How much is the funeral going to bloody well cost ? Stops watching the news until this bloody thing is over
oops.. .. I waffled again
Good riddance to the bitch!
Good riddance to the bitch!
tweets: Margaret Thatcher achieved something unique First (and only so far) woman PM. Today should be about respect. Let's debate her legacy later.

Not something you can judge Carnelian.

I don't get why She's getting a ceremonial funeral

Shame on you . . she wasn't a mass murderer . . she may have divided opinion hugely.. but for the ones she has left behind to whom she was a mother and grandmother can you not have an ounce of respect at all, not for her but for those grieving their loss?
bad form

Winston Churchill got one and he was a brandy swilling cigar smoking 'controversial' PM too.. but he led us thru a war that we won. .same as Maggie did.. I don't know why he got one either as opposed to other PM's. .maybe cos they were stand out for various reasons? who knows
Love her or hate her, at least she believed in something. She was driven by her ideals and genuinely held beliefs. Not just by vanity, self aggrandizement and a desire to make money post politics - like more recent politicians. Not saying she was right or even that she was a good person, just that she was genuine. And I respect that.
RIP Baroness Thatcher.

Also united the country and was inspirational in the fight against the Nazis. He was also a prophet against the rising tide of Nazism.
Thatcher, by contrast, polarised the country between the haves and have nots. Was hated by as many as loved her.
You can't even begin to compare a war like the Falklands, where there was no threat to mainland UK, to Britain's darkest hour.
oops.. .. I waffled again
Nope. It was a fair appraisal of her. How often is someone like her going to die, someone who really changed the country and beyond our shores too.
The unions had got out of control in the 70's. Wonder what Arthur Scargill sitting in his exclusive home in London's Barbican Centre thinks today. He didn't exactly live by his ideals did he?
At least Baroness Thatcher wasn't a total hypocrite like him.

Her policies made enough people homeless, who did die. So not a mass murderer - directly.
I wasn't comparing the two wars Carnelian. .I was hazarding a guess. . she also had the 'war' with the Euro lot to contend with too for this country's benefit. .but as I said I was just guessing why she was getting a ceremonial funeral.. Both of them were formidable people and stand out leaders for various reasons, unlike any since.. again only guesswork as to why she gets one too. .
as for your second comment. . I give up..

Apparently #nowthatcherisdead has confused some Cher fans.
slightly shocked by some responses.
