I always felt Earth Song should have been watched, and the words listened to, by the world's leaders who aren't paying enough attention to what's happening to Planet Earth. Also the multi nationals who's rush for greed is also a part of what's ruining the planet. He wrote many songs with a humanitarian focus and I hope one day he'll be truly recognised for that, which I understand could happen through Congress.

I don't want to see pictures of him dead. Just to remember the music he was famous for. And to listen to the messages in his music.

The same with Earth Song.

Truly moving, beautiful, stunning, and more importantly RIGHT!

What's right about it for me is that it shows what's so wrong about so many things

Anyway Goodnight to you and anyone else here, keep enjoying the music Smiler

Exactly! The man foooooookin cared!

He was deprived of a childhood and spent his adult life trying to get it back. I don't for one minute think he was malicious in anyway shape or form. He was just confused and exceptionally gifted.

His music will live on forever. I hope that he is chilling with John Lennon as we speak.

I wonder why CH4 bosses saw it fit to OK that garbage with out the coroners report....

I think they must have rushed to judgement as it's surely not right to speculate before the evidence comes in, they should have held back and waited to see.
They just wanted to cash in now the news is still fresh Shake Head.... All the channels are making tributes left, right and centre... These same channels didn't want to have anything to do with him when he was alive... Astonishing hypocrisy

Even in death the parasites won't let him rest in peace. People are now claiming he was gay, well 1) I doubt it and 2) you know what ?, even if he was, SO WHAT ???

Funny how the press don't go after Bono like that isn't it ?

He was an easy target, and to be fair, he often didn't help himself, which is a shame as ironically he ended up endangering the support and love he so obviously needed and craved. Frowner

As I said before, confused.

But it's the mentallity of the media today. They build you up and then can't wait to pounce and knock you down again.

Gordon Ramsey is a prime example. Media darling for years and they ran with it and loved it. Then as soon as they get a lull and need something to report or think he is getting too big for his boots they knock him down continuously. They had those strories of his various affairs on ice for YEARS! They just waited until they had more arbage on him then released it all in weekly doses to keep the disgust and hatred high.

I wanted to be a journalist when I was younger, I am so glad I didn't take that option now.

But why do the likes of Bono* not get that treatment ?

Any more building up and I think his head might explode.

I think MJ was perhaps too nice, if anyone says anything out of line about Bono, they know they'd be up to their waists in legal actions.

*I use Bono just as an example because he's one of the few as 'big' as MJ in the music business.

As always it depends which elements of the media you dip into. I can now confirm that Saint Bono has come in for heavy criticism, as has the arch-dud Madonna.
Whilst MJ's relations, and other hangers on with a financial interest, seek to keep his name in the news with a view to cashing in, expect a continuance of negative spin also.

This is off a blog, I don't neccessarily agree with the political views.

My favorite is Bono. The magazine ranks him at #12, but I rank him #1. In 2003, about to play at a charity show for Iraqis, he realized he forgot his favorite hat. No problem. Bono spent $1,700 to fly the hat in a first-class seat from London via British Airways.

Wait. Isn't this the same Bono who constantly visits a willing Bush White House to pressure us "wealthy" American taxpayers to forgive the gazillions in debt owed us by such murderous terror-host states such as Sudan?

The bloody wealthy Irish rock star wants to spend your tax money to help relief for terrorist states. But he ain't spending his own money on it. Nope. His money is going to first-class international airfare for a hat.

Yes I heard about that.

Not really of the same calibre as that recieved by MJ though is it ? in that it is not as personal and speculative.

But your point is well taken, that he is not entirely immune, assuming that's what you're saying.

Well, that's just some nut on a blogs interpretation though, I don't think the world press were saying that were they ?

The world's press are giving him a reasonable ride IMHYCO. They haven't quite decided which way to jump and are keeping his name in the news. Publicity is all that the hangers on require surely.

Good lyrics too.

Pop music doesn't need to have much in the way of a message but I like it when it does.
Mister Tea
Absolutely. Some of his songs, like this one and Earth Song had a social and humanitarian message.

In the song They Don't Care About Us is the line "Don't you black or white me" In the song Black or White is the line "It don't matter if you're black or white" Some people focus on the colour of his skin as it became white, for me it doesn't matter whether anyone's black, white or any other colour, it's the person, personality and if they're nice people that counts for me.
