But didn't you just dread that would happen? One has learnt from experience that acting and real life overlap in her case (in quite a hammy way too.)

I appreciate that Vannessa was getting a fellowship rather than a film award, but this is a perfect example of why I don't watch award ceremonies any more. I'm a big film fan, and am very interested in who wins the major awards, but I'm now quite happy to just look-up the results afterwards rather than sit through hours of back-slapping, weeping and "luvvie" stories.
I once read that something like 26% of the Oscar ceremony audience only watch to see the fashion. I'm only surprised that the figure isn't much higher...
