4 times this morning, when calling at the paper shop, chemists and other places,
I opened and held the door for someone. Yes 4 times! They marched, ambled, paraded and flounced through the door, but not one of them said "thank you."
I eventually get to the supermarket, and in busy and sometimes congested aisles I gave way and allowed others to pass a number of times. On 5 occasions the was no "thank you".
Why are people so bad-mannered?

Another random thought....why do they advertise "Norfolk turkeys"?
Is "Norfolk" the special selling point? Do Norfolk turkeys have something other turkeys do not?
Why not Yorkshire, or Scottish turkeys?

Funny you should make this topic, because lately I've noticed an increase in good manners from the public. I've been out shopping all week, and the amount of "thank you"s and "sorry"s I've recieved is astonishing. Whether it be holding a door, giving way, picking up a dropped item, etc

I figured it's because it's Christmas, but now I'm wondering if it's more of an area based thing.

What really really really bugs me too is when, having given way to let a driver pass, he/she coasts on by without a look.
I agree Triggers.
On a more positive note, I like it when a motorist allows a slow pedestrian to cross in front of them. This can include bus drivers too, even in the bus station.
I like it when the pedestrian acknowledges thanks to the driver in some way, and the driver acknowledges back. Sometimes, accompanied by a smile.
This is freshin my mind because conditions underfoot in my area recently have been difficult, and a bit of tolerance and patience.has been required

We're on the same wavelength Brisket

On my way to college, there's a very narrow path just before you get there.  I'm fed up with students from there 3 deep expecting me to walk in the road so they can continue their conversation 3 deep rather than having the manners to give way and walk one behind the other - nowt wrong with walking like ducks

It drives me mad too Brisket....  manners cost nothing, as my mum drilled into me. And another thing that annoys me is when people stand chatting and blocking the aisles of the supermarket, even when they can see that you want to get through. On more than one occasion I have been sorely tempted to bump into them with my trolley..... purely by accident of course
