I've been looking to get a slow cooker for ages now, everyone I know who owns one raves on about how great they are, and such time savers. Well one of my flatmates left our flat at the wekend and he asked m if I wanted his slow cooked that his mum gave him for free (He's left the country for good travelling, so it's no good to him now). He only ever used it once and it's in great nick and a decent make (Russell Hobbs), anyway it has 3 settings on it, low, high and auto, I had no idea what the auto switch did, but after googling around all morniing I've found the answer (Starts it on high for an hour then drops to low setting), woohee, can't wait to start cooking!

I know someone who gave his missus a slow cooker for Valentine's Day. From what he said about her reaction, he's lucky he didn't get it wrapped round his head.
Poolshark.......if you're going out for the day you can just set it to Auto.....without having to use the "high" or "low" settings for most recipes
