Well this is it. I was upset when I heard. had to switch Radio 4 off as I had my mascara on and it was in danger of running. At my age I remember the gorgeous ween he as with the Jackson 5 and I saw him live in the 80's (I accidentally mooned him at the Cardiff Arms Park **sigh**)

Like you, I LOVED the Jackson 5, and early MJ, but I wasn't upset when I heard. More shocked. I think it's cos I had lost interest in him years ago, I thought he was over rated and took himself far too seriously (that bloody Earth song performance was the nail in the coffin for me) The only song I liked in the later years was 'You are not alone', but I couldn't watch the video cos he acted like an arse in it.

I agree about the offending stuff too

i always said i didnt like MJ apart from 2 sad songs. but since ive been BOMBARDED with them on the radio i have to say i do like the jackson 5 and very early mj stuff. i dont even like any of thriller so my interest stopped way before then.

I felt unwell at the concert and not being the fainting sort didn't have a clue that I was about to pass out through lack of oxygen so I undid the top button of my jeans thinking that might help.

Feeling even more ill I was eventually manhandled to within 20 feet of the barriers where three very tall burly blokes responded well to my mates cry of "She's gonna hurl.." and proceeded to crowd surf me face down to the front of the crowd.

My jeans were still undone just as MJ swung out over the crowd on a gantry. It was not a serendipitous moment frankly.

With hindsight he seemed OK until then.
