3 ways, copy them from someone else, get them from character map, hold down alt and type a number on the number pad.
Once you've 'got' your symbols/pattern it's just a case of puting 'colour' tags around it (which can be done manually, or via the colour palette next to the smiley in the reply box)
If you're doing it manually then type it straight into the sig box, if you're doing it via a reply box then copy it from there and paste it into your sig box.

Just experimenting.
