It's terrible. Apparently the gunmen were asking for certain journalists by name.
Yeah, that's what the news is saying Cinds. Scary!
OMG! Sky showing footage taken from a rooftop.
I wonder if Private Eye should be upping their security now. Magazine is said to be likened to it
The magazine's last tweet was a cartoon of the leader of the "Islamic State" militant group.
I wish Sky would stop showing the video of them killing that poor policeman - even if he is pixilated we didn't need to see it
Just put Sky News on now, how awful

I've turned over to the commons question on A&E
This is horrific, and the gunmen are reported to still be on the loose.
Famous, talented cartoonists assassinated. Dreadful stuff, but we must uphold the right to satirise the news, and we must support secular democratic France and free speech.

I refuse to watch Sky News. .Partly cos of Murdoch but also because on the odd occasions I have popped it on to get further news I have seen an interviewer [some bint] questioning witness about how gruesome was it and pushing them for info if they don't expand on it.
I miss ITV news channel, they are the best imo but, I will look at BBC's if News isn't scheduled for main TV channel.. Sky News sucks and often seems to be reporting a different story to the others too .. don't trust them one iota
Feel for the relatives and friends of those killed in Paris.. bleedin lunatic so called religious people killing for no reason..
Oh and they are so committed to their cause yet they won't show their faces. . Cowards

That's probably Kay Burley (sp) She's as much use as a one legged man at an arse kicking contest
People. Just watch whatever News channel you can.
Guns...the worst invention ever.
Makes you sick to the core all these he men sad deluded pyschopaths - cause that's what they are.
Sad day for France and all those left to pick up the pieces
Indeed they are Velvet What a dreadful day. One wonders where it will all end?
I have no interest in who reports what and why. I do watch Sky News , because they are more up to date with news. Terribly upsetting pics, but we have a right to know, if not then , the perpetrators have won then, have they not?? Is it not about freedom of speech? The fact remains people are dead, why shoot the messengers, who report the news ?? If people dont like to watch Sky News, turn off ..
My comment about Sky News started off with I don't watch it... [not if I can help it] I then explained why... I can imagine all these scenes are pretty gory and shocking for those that witnessed them, don't need a reporter shoving a mic in someone face when they are in a state of shock and being asked to describe if there were body parts and how grisly was it. .
last time I did see it was when the Glasgow Dustvan tragedy happened before Xmas. .turned it right off.. went looking for BBC news.. same story reported by them, minus one dickhead asking for the details of the gore rather than asking what happened and how many casualties etc i.e. the actual news stuff
I will say that for real News I never beleive anything on Sky. .I have channel hopped on some serious occasions and their stuff is usually way off target and in complete contradiction to other channels.. bit like the red top 'newspapers' mainly full of baloney..

I agree ....on all points Velvet

I've had Sky News on all day today, purely because it's rolling news and I want to know what's going on. I don't care who's reporting or filming - just give me the info. Then wipe out this bastard terrorist organisation for good.
Absolutely awful... those poor people. It seems unreal. Bastards.
#killallmuslims was actually 'trending' on twitter until a few minutes ago
and that pisses me off-its disgusting
its awful what the gunmen did
pointless
what makes them think their religion is more important than anyone elses?
and thats the key word 'religion'
cos its not about allah its about power & a show of strength
f*cking fools
it was horrific to watch and they are still not detained
you got that right velvs

It's about gangsters. And all gangsters are feckin tools.
Exactly donks. Its nothing to do with a religious cause, its to do with terrorising people for its own sake and becoming notorious like some sort of wild-west hero.
This is a centuries old conflict.

yep
with a new twist

I have never purchased Sky and never will do. Not going to put money in the organisations pocket.
I also hate how they (SKY) try and hoover up all of the sport they can. Hate, hate, hate the organisation.
Seeing all the cartoon responses to the Charlie Hebdo attack reminded me of the work of the Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali, who was murdered in London back in 1987. His most famous character was a Palestinian waif called Handala, and this particular image is as pertinent now as it ever was:
According to the Huff Post, the suspects have been cornered in a warehouse near Charles De Gaulle airport and some flights have been diverted, I think because there is police helicopter activity. Rumour at the moment is that 2 more people have been killed and that they might have a hostage.
I really don't want the cops to kill them. .that would be their nirvana. .I want them to be denied the ' martyr death' they crave and be locked up for the rest of their lives doing hard labour.. but, it sounds like they will end up committing suicide by cop
I've been watching sky news for the last two hours...they have stated they do not kill women and they have a woman hostage...I truly hope they keep their word

Hope so Dame - poor lady she must be terrified

I'm afraid the murder of the policewoman is now linked to them, so I'd take their alleged "we don't kill women" statement with a big pinch of salt.
They've made phone contact with them and they have also apparently stated they don't kill civilians, erm

No doubt in their warped minds, the staff of Charlie Hebdo were the enemy and therefore not civilians.
Edit: Sky News have confirmed the hostage is a 26 year old man.

One of the people killed in the magazine offices was Elsa Cayat who was a columnist for the magazine

So much for their statement.
