When you say "favourite", do you mean the one I call other people, or the one I prefer to be called?

I prefer to say sweetness - no idea why - it just comes out

Favourite would prob be baby, maybe favourite is the wrong word, but its the one that sort of slips out.

Hun and babe are my least favourite, A little bit of my sunny disposition dies every time someone calls me it

Ooooooooooooooh dear . I always call my grand kids and kids hun, honey or bubs.

i often call my little ones (and some not so little)  sweetheart/sweetie pie

My fave penname to be called is just 'love' or luv, and I do have a least fave that isn't on there, but I don't want to say in case people start calling it me on here to piss me off!  LOL!    So I picked OTHER for both.

aw... its different with kids though..    the terms of endearment I call my kids range from "baby" & "baby boy"  (I really must stop calling my son that.... he's 13 and is gonna start resenting it soon)...   poppet, ma petit choufleur, & my little onion, lovely, cutie...     loads of gushy shit!   But its ok...  cos they're my kids.

In relationship terms..    being called "dear" is the worst...   when I am called that I find its insincere, and usually said with a curl of the lip.    I call hubby "baby"... but only when I am on a charm offensive & want something...  so sort of in jest.    He calls me "bird"  and it is his term of endearment to me...   I know some people hate being called that... but its what he has always called me (I got upped to Mrs Bird when we got married).    I call him "husband"...

I'm with you Growly. i don't call people by them and certainly don't like to be called them myself. *Shakesheadsmilie* I'm at work and don't have the range of smilies

I am actually completely the opposite, and don't mind at all being called most pen-names/pet- names, and I really don't 'get' why people get upset by it.  But each to their own; everyone is entitled to not like it if they so wish.

I think half the time calling poeple by petnames is lazy....

Hun is by far the worst though...I have no time for anyone that uses that term.

I use "Darling" or "Love" when speaking to hubby and he calls me "Sweetheart" or "Lovey".

Middle son calls me "Doll" and I call my three sons "Sweetheart", Darling" or "Love", and I sometimes call my youngest son (aged 22) "Babe", 'cos he is my baby.

Outwith the family, Mr Yogi uses "Love" for women and "Mate" for guys, for the same reason.

It has been known.

Is it a cultural thing possibly? I call my husband honey ..................I call my kids/grandkids hun , honey or bubs and that's just how it is - outside of family I never call anyone anything other than their name - it irks me when people I hatrdly know call me babe, hun, love or whatever ...............to me it's a family thing - a term of endearment!

Oh Christ that sets my teeth on edge, especially since there's an uber bitch at work who sweetly calls people chicken whilst gleefully sticking knives in them the minute their back is turned.  Sometimes she shortens it to 'chick', which makes me want to vomit for about 6 hours solid and set fire to things.

I can understand your grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr there. Chick is a term used where I live and is used so loosely and is so insincere ...........I fully understand.

I only use little terms of endearments to loved ones. I hate it when people casually throw them about.

"Lady" is another one. Especially when it's said in a commanding Yorkshire accent - as in "c'm'ere laaaay-deh!"

IMO it's all about nuances and the sentiments behind the word.  Said in the right way, even "Oi you!" can be a turn-on
