Am I the only one, or did everyone else's gran used to say it was "too cold for snow"?
No, I'm sure everyone has heard that. It is, or was, commonly heard.

The truth? Snow only forms when water freezes at a slowish speed. The lower the temperature, the faster it freezes - thus no snow - thus it's too cold for snow.

According to that metcheck it's actually 0C just now and will fall to -1C on Saturday night, but will be above freezing the rest of the week and will be dry and sunny in the main part. I am going to have to break out the suntan lotion again.

Could we please not have snow until after next weekend? I have to drive up to my daughter's that weekend and back, and I'd rather not have the inconvenience of snow when I'm driving. Thank you kindly, muchly.

Bloody hell it's cold and miserable outside at the moment.  Freezing fog all day and tonight.

I hope it snows really badly between Christmas and New Year so I don't have to visit my brother and his wife.

Mr Fluffy Thing's just come in bemoaning the fact that there's fog in Motherwell....apparently Celtic (the team he supports) is supposed to be playing Motherwell AT Motherwell....and he's worried the fog will mess up (or even cancel ) the game.
