If  I had that problem, I would make sure I already had another browser installed, then I would uninstall chrome in it's entirety.

See if the offending prog was gone, search for all files relating to chrome and delete them.

Then download and install chrome again.

No doubt this is the wrong way to do it, but I had an issue with chrome and an unwanted prog. I tried faffing about in tools, to no avail.so did the above and got rid of it.

On W7 go to Start Menu>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup

Then choose what you want rid of [most if not all]

Do it regularly to clear out unwanted stuff Soozy

Joe I really am clueless ......sometimes I look down my list of stuff and think 'How the hell did that get there?' I suppose sometimes it might be my grandson but I do think I'm responsible for some of it and I don't know why it's happened.

I really shouldn't be allowed around computers

Suzy am glad the fix seemed to work.

As a reminder when installing something make sure you read each window as it opens and before clicking next make sure you aren't also signing up for some extra unwanted programme too. Even some anti virus software adds those as part of an install  and often a Flash or Adobe update will try to do the same thing too .. Often they are adding annoying toolbars so make sure you untick everything or say no thanks just install the bleedin programme I want not all your extra's

Could we perhaps have a tuition thread whereby the experts on here instruct us computer divvies.

There is a lot of combined knowledge in here and I'm a little in awe. I don't know the correct terms or way for proceeding with anything.

I am currently doing a City & Guilds course (got my desk top publishing exam this afternoon). I am learning quite a bit but I feel a bit of a fool at times as I don't really know the correct terms for even the most basic stuff.

Yesterday the tutor said something about remembering to quote the operating system that I used. I had to tell her that I had no idea what an operating system was

Don't be! I have to get my husband to explain computer stuff to me like he was talking to our 5 year old twins and I'm much cleverer than him. He knows it, I know it and that's how it is!

Good luck in your course

Why am I strangly attracted to you LOL

YAY! Excellent suggestion Soozy   Its wonderful the techy tips people have taught me here, as well as helpful reviews and recommendations of products. Sadly the combined knowledge as you say, is dispersed over different threads. How about we keep this thread going. The title is perfect!
