Ok, so here's the problem. My Laptop is completely useless at the moment, had loads of trouble with a Mobile Broadband Stick and I have a sneaky suspicion that this may have caused the problems, I'm still waiting for Vodafone to sort that out....

I have tried the System Restore and have removed lots of stuff that I don't really need but it's still running so slow and won't let me remove some programs or run them as half of them seem to have 'components missing'????.

I am going to completely restore it back to the factory settings and will need to save all my documents etc. as this will completely wipe my Laptop and set it back to the way it was when I bought it. I have been left with no option really if I want to keep my sanity

The only thing I am struggling with is how to save my wallpaper. It is one that I put on, it came in an email and I just set it as the wallpaper. Does anyone know how to do this? I just need to know how to copy this onto a USB stick but I am stumped.....I have tried everything!!!! I hope one of you lovely folks can help....

Hi Devil,

If it is wallpaper that came with the PC ie you didn't add it yourself but chose it when selecting properties then you may find it in C:\WINDOWS directory or C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper.

Edit   just read this " It is one that I put on, it came in an email and I just set it as the wallpaper" so my advice useless.

Hmm. Right click on the desktop, select: Properties > Desktop

There should be a list of images in the Background box. This should give you the name of the image you are using. Then you could search for that image in Windows Explorer...

Thanks for your replies

No Saz, I don't have the email it came in and croc, it isn't one that 'came' with my Lappy.

Baby Bunny, I tried something similar last night but I shall try again...i just really like it and I don't want to lose it, sad or what! Lol.....

I swear, I can't for the life of me fathom what's gone wrong with the damn machine...but I vow I will get it sorted, it is my mission in life now, and I spent most of the weekend trying to sort it but have been left with no option but to wipe it

It's either the Vodafone thing (that's apparently been sent off, had the software in it upgraded), it is even worse than it was before,...grrrrr......or, I have a sneaky suspicion that maybe Avast has something to do with it...still....fingers crossed I'll get it sorted...
