Ah Ha - problem solved Fluffy.

I thought I'd go into 'preferences' and it showed there that I had got the 'email notifications box' flagged so I just deleted it and now everything is hunky-dory!

I do hope I don't give you any more problems but thank you so much for giving me so much time. I really do appreciate your helpful advice.

I also have a red flag there. Don't worry about that. It's just indicating that you can set flags via that button - FOR THIS FORUM ONLY!

Ye Gads - I wish I'd checked out the 'preferences' section before coming on here and bothering you (again) Fluffy.

Why did it never occur to me before I wonder?
D'oh!!

Chuckling at how small it is, but got it into the post. Laugh

Glad you're sorted Hyacinth, and was ages in the Dentist, who was arranging my new dentures, and have to see him again next week, for a filling as broke off part of it some weeks ago. I don't mind fillings and the like as many years ago another dentist showed me how to relax, and after that time was ok. My dentist is very cool too, as is his nurse and have a laugh with them Nod

Hub's back and he wasn't long at work, 40 mins. Big Grin

Hiya Fluffy, when you come back that is, thanks for this help, and have written down what you said, so I can't really go wrong can I. <g> Going to see if I can get this piccy into it's normal size, as I want it to go into the Nostalgia Thread. Crosses fingers. Big Grin

When you get back, if you have that water scene piccy I'll have it as the Avatar once more. <g>

Just saw those musical notes on another site and thought I'd add them either end of my signature. Was quite surprised when it actually worked.

Glad you're nearly sorted with the dentist apricot. Good luck with your next appointment.

I wish someone would teach me relaxation techniques 'cos I get quite stressed at the dentist and then can't stop shaking.

Used to have the valium injection which put you out but they're not allowed to give it now unless an anaethetist is in attendance!

Hi Fluffy, that's nice of you and thanks for passing it over. Hug Big Grin Have a suspicion it might not work as we've got a saga in play at the moment, which I'll recount briefly. Went out to get a new computer, which we got with it plus Monitor and discount, got back home, and hub connected it, and as soon as I switched it on it asked me for a password, and I spend god knows how long trying to find the right one and failed. Remember hub saying on way home that he should have asked the shop if they had disabled their password, and a tad late when we got home to discover it was still sitting in the computer. :sheesh Did get part of the password, and tomorrow hub will ring them to ask what it is. Honestly! I started laughing as it was so ridiculous. Laugh So here I am with a new Monitor which has done something strange to my mouse pointer, and the old computer which isn't that great to use. So, think I'll leave Avatar changes until say tomorrow, as that could go crazy too. Big Grin But you have to laugh all the same. Laugh

See you when things are more settled here, and you're back in full swing, for any further disasters. <g> Glance Ghost Present

Hi Hyacinth, try this method. When you get into the dental chair, put your hands palms upwards on each arm of the chair, and leave them like that during the whole treatment, and it also helps if you keep your eyes closed, or if you want them to stay open, then focus on an object, and stay focused. It actually works, as I used that method each time I sat down in the chair and eventually lost my fear. Oh, don't forget to breathe throught your nose, as it's so easy to forget to do that. If the dental work is heavy, breathe deeply and evenly, and before long you'll find that you feel very relaxed.

There was a treatment I got some years ago, where the tooth was black and it had to be drained and taken out, and a slight touch hurt it to blazes, so I got into the relax mode, and dentist gave me 3 injections into the tooth and I felt one of them and jumped a mile, but held onto the palms upwards method the whole time. He gave me another 2 injections to try and numb it but it didn't work, and I knew it wasn't going to, so we had a confab, both of us readied outrselves, as I knew it was going to hurt to blazes, but it had to be done, so up the palms went, and I counted to 3 and he started and I felt the whole thing, and was a bloomin' nightmare, and god knows how I held on but I did, and he was pleased with me. Between us he did the job and top of my mouth was numbed for days afterwards!Laugh But I wouldn't have made it had I not used the method another dentist showed me. You try it and you'll feel much better. NodHug

I won't ask you how you got those musical notes, not yet anyway. Laugh But you did well. You and I have hogged this Thread and have an idea we could carry on doing it, and Fluffy might go into hiding. Laugh

Fulffy, think I've worked out what's wrong.....I'm faster than the Forum software, as I've been pratting around with a few avatars, and none of them got in, neither did the NO AVATARS work for more than a second, then it was back to the photo one, and that wouldn't budge, then I just clicked and clicked on one button to get it to move faster, and lo and behold I got me that piccy on the screen now, and it limped in as if it had a bad leg. -sheesh- I'm sticking with it for now, as I have to go out. But glad I worked it out, and all you do(or a person does) is keep hitting the button until it gets a move on. Laugh I'll use your nice piccy in the evening after The Apprentice. Thumbs Up

Hi Tatty, life can get that way, and has been for so long too....glad to see you're back, and Fluffy was excellent. Nod It should be easy but it doesn't always end up that way. I could tell you a spooky story about 2 computers. Ghost

But now I have more problems with the Avatars as they don't always work, no matter how many times you click the buttons using instructions, or using any buttons, it still goes wrong, and as I'm not a skirker, I plod on until I find a way, and that's how RL has been too. Smiler

Sorry to hear R/L has been giving you a hard time. And don't feel bad about not having a lot of time to spend on here for now. So don't feel you have to scurry back any sooner than when YOU feel ready. Hug
