4.43pm: Chris is choosing not to listen to the feed and it looks like he's really enjoying the silence

Less than 24 hours after they were fake evicted, Chris R Wright and Helen Wood have returned to the Big Brother house.

In yesterday evening’s latest highlights show we saw the Housemates gathered  on the sofas before they Emma Willis’ voice came booming in.

Emma told the shock group that the public have spoken and the next Housemate to be evicted is – Helen.

Later on, the Housemates were gathered again and new Power housemate Ash and Christopher were told to stand up and decide who to evict then and there from the remaining Housemates, choosing Chris.

However neither Chris nor Helen were really evicted, instead moving to Big Brother’s β€˜Spare Room’ for the past 24 hours, where they’ve spied on the main house.

And in today’s task, the pair also got the chance to set questions to both Pav and Ashleigh as part of the pair’s time as BB VIPs.

While they unsurprisingly saw bitching – with Helen once again getting particularly riled by Ashleigh – there were no bad feels and only smiles and hugs all around when Helen and Chris stepped foot into the main house again this evening.

At least for now, it’s all happy families, begging the question what exactly was the twist for?

Big Brother 2014 has tonight officially confirmed the six finalists housemates ahead of Friday’s final.

After two fake evictions and an ultimately pointless house next door twist, the final six were confirmed tonight.

It means no shock evictions to come before Friday’s latest live show.

Over the past nine weeks we’ve seen a total of nineteen housemates in the house, starting with a double launch night where sixteen new faces enetered.

And last month month we had three newbies burst into the house after some 40 days, causing all sorts of conflict.

Now we’re left with the final six: Helen Wood, Ash Harrison, Christopher Hall, Chris R Wright, Ashleigh Coyle and the sole remaining recent new entrant Pavandeep Paul.

One of them will be crowned the winner of Big Brother 2014 on Friday night, leaving the house after 72 days inside and some Β£100,000 richer.

I agree Syd ,he looked gutted they were back ,and that hug he gave Chris was so false .A few weeks ago in the DR he was speaking to BB and his answer was along the lines of "Do I f***" it was the way he said it ,his soft accent was gone and was replaced with a much more forceful and very different sounding/looking Christopher. It's hard to explain but I thought...there is the real Christopher! I hope he doesn't win .

Day 69

Everything you need to know about Day 69

The House was a little bit emptier on Day 69. Two housemates emptier to be precise.

But in a little room, not too far away, the recently-departed Helen and Chris were looking rather cosy as they lapped up the morning's entertainment, which came in the form of a tall, male Mancunian.

Don't worry, it wasn't long before laughter and smiles turned into gawps and sniggers, as Helen listened intently to Ashleigh's and Christopher's frank discussion of their favourite Bolton lass. The walls have ears as well as eyes for today. In light of findings, Helen was keen to get her side of the story across to Ashleigh's loyal companion and fellow fake evictee Chris, who looked thrilled to be caught in the middle.

As the day unfolded, you'd be forgiven for thinking that housemates had started to believe their own hype. Ashleigh and Pav were transformed into House celebrities for the day's task, and as the biggest stars this side of Borehamwood, they were suitably harassed by the paps and had a list of demands longer than the M25.

Housemates worked hard to make the headlines, but in the end, there was one headline that they were certainly not expecting to see...

The doors of the secret room were opened, and Helen and Chris greeted their fellow finalists with smiles, hugs and a skip in their step. Awww.

Ashleigh and Chris hug

But there was still one announcement that Big Brother was yet to make. After promptly gathering housemates on the sofas, the lights were dimmed to the familiar blood-red and the six hopefuls were left motionless on the edges of their seats. Was the House going to be torn apart so soon after uniting as one?

No. It was just a lovely message announcing that the housemates were officially finalists.

Will tonight's high spirits remain for the final few days? Will Ashleigh and Pav miss the lifestyles of the rich and the famous? Will housemates make any more headlines? Stick with us to find out...

The more I watch Helen dissing Ashleigh through the show the more I think she is just so jellus of her.. After all Ashleigh is only 18 [as Helen is keen to point out at any opportunity] and just starting her adult life. . Helen has started it and is a lot further along and made some pretty bad decisions along the way so far. .

the contrast between the two is a fresh faced [albeit just as foul mouthed sometimes and still a bit adolescenty bratty] young girl and a world weary, hardened old boot of a woman who hides behind a front of bravado mixed with mannish, to an extent, aggressiveness...  possibly as a protective wall around herself that she has built because her actions in her life have meant she has to block out the comebacks she inevitably gets for the way she acts towards others and in general..

I wonder if Helen sometimes think I wish I had my time again I'd do it differently..    Just a thought..
