That long? Do you really think so ... I am inclined to think it will be a lot less time than that. Probably less than 200 years at the rate we are going now. Frowner

Thats 200 years for human beings. If you look at the life of the earth as a year, its reckoned that humans have been on it for the last 30 seconds of the last day, as you can see we are not as important as we think we are. If we annihilate ourselves and poison almost everything else, some things will survive, maybe not the things that we consider to be important but life will go on.

Very true Windswept, but eventually we will have to leave this planet as the sun ages it will gradually get hotter which will warm the earth to what will finally be uninhabitable, mars will then be warm enough to live on and there we will reside until that too becomes engulfed along with the rest of our solar system, and then the sun will cool and contract, eventually becoming a neutron star by which time we will be long gone (extinct or evolved into something unrecognisable) and the huge question one has to ask is, will anyone still be posting on the forums, its a difficult one isn't it.
Interesting post. How long do you think we have left til this planet becomes inhabitable?

the human race can quite easily disappear, through climate change, wars, overpopulation & disease, but mother earth will carry on, with possibly new species of flora and forna.
