Thats not adding up because its mainly young healthy people whove died so far.

The media dont seem happy unless there's some kind of disease or illness that is set to wipe out half the population of the world, herpes, aids, bird flu, the 'flesh eating' disease, swine flu is just the next one in a seemimgly never ending list, the trouble is, when one comes along and it really does have the potential to devastate the planet, will we believe it, cried, boy, wolf.

It may or may not, but it always gets me that, as a race, we can sometimes do the impossible, overcome seemingly insurmountable problems, and yet one of the greatest threats to us, apart from ourselves ,is something microscopic, something that bears us no ill will, something that is just doing wht it does to survive, something that has no intelligence and as such has no awareness of our existence, so there you have it.

Climate change is happening gradually and can get us. A little tidal wave or two. Mans inhumanity to man.

My hubby thinks that too Ninja Some of his mates think we 'need' war to keep the worlds' populalation down and to enable new technology to be created.

Not *my* thoughts or words BTW, I am just passing it on, what other folk think ...

Trouble is, I don't see the world's population diminishing at all; in fact it's forever increasing.

Very true Windswept, but eventually we will have to leave this planet as the sun ages it will gradually get hotter which will warm the earth to what will finally be uninhabitable, mars will then be warm enough to live on and there we will reside until that too becomes engulfed along with the rest of our solar system, and then the sun will cool and contract, eventually becoming a neutron star by which time we will be long gone (extinct or evolved into something unrecognisable) and the huge question one has to ask is, will anyone still be posting on the forums, its a difficult one isn't it.

Wars are planned. FACT Wars depopulate the world. FACT. There were millions of deaths in WWI and WWII due to being killed and illness. No antibiotics in 1914 infection was the big enemy. Now a war would wipe us all out. Nuclear.

Interesting post. How long do you think we have left til this planet becomes inhabitable?

Its estimated to be about 3 billion years for the earth to be uninhabitable, about 4 billion years after that tha sun will reach its maximum size, then contraction.
