This whole situation is starting to become quite daunting now. For those of us who are healthy, we can find comfort in knowing that we can fight the illness, but for the elderly, poorly and very young, I feel uneasy for them.

I doubt it will go that high if they get the vaccinations out in time, IMO they've blown this out of proportion.

It's just another strand of flu. If you get really bad flu and you have underlying health problem it can kill you. This is exactly the same. It's hardly news.

Thank you...this is what I have said all along!

Loads of people die every year from flu or complications of it...nothing new!

My Dad survived the 1918 flu, but must admit I'm getting a tad worried now, my instincts say chill out, but the papers and news stories are getting a bit full on. I get hay fever, and don't know now if the sneeze is pollen, or 'flu..Should I hibernate??

Thats what my GP did to me last week, I phoned asking for an appointment because I had got the symptoms and was diagnosed via the phone and had to tell my GP receptionist that my hubby would go and collect Tamiflu as I am not allowed to go out. Thought that was strange that I had to to tell them that as he usually collect my perscriptions anyway

It seems that on average 20,000 people die every year in the UK from flu. Mainly the elderly and the very young, so why is this one causing such panic? Is it simply because we can give this one a name not just a number.
Asian, Swine, Bird and Hong Kong flu are they any worse than the strains that we get each year?

Im absolutely petrified of this bloody swine flu and people telling me not to worry just bugs me - I am so worried for my 2 year old daughter. I have buried 3 children already and couldn't cope doing it again.

I have a bad feeling about all of this.

I have come down with a cold - just a cold. No sore throat no temp just a cold so I'm ok right?

Im sure if you just feel like it's a cold then you are ok, from what I hear Flu is so much harsher...however if you are worried why not phone the doctors?

If people wore surgical masks when in crowded places it would help to slow down the transmission.

Another point of contact are all the surfaces people touch when they're out and about that have also been touched by goodness knows how many before. Even why buying things and you receive change there's no way of knowing who handled it before.
