Iâm more concerned about my Mum getting it. Sheâs diabetic and asthmatic and when she gets a chest infection sheâs really unwell with it, on steroids and all manner of stuff â I worry every winter about her but she makes sure to get the flu jab, the jab doesnât guard against this strain though.

I really reccomend buying from Boots or health shop, Gelsemium, a homeopathic rememdy for flu, perfectly safe.
I've sealed up all my doors and windows with masking tape, wrapped myself in clingfilm, and I've emptied my local Spar store of tinned beans, toilet paper, coca cola, and disinfectant. I'm not going outside again until 2010.

It's my daughter's birthday tomorrow and I've just had some panicked parents on the phone because one girl has apparently just come back from Mexico and all threatening to pull out of daughter's party.
One very distraught daughter and mad panic on my part to contact said girls parents and find out what the hell was going on.
The silly bint mentioned it on msn as a joke.

The thing about this is that is has been played out of all proportion.. they compare it to asian (bird) flu that actually attacked the lungs and this type doesn't even.......... it's all sensalionised and hyped

I'm a bit like that with my sis, Jas - she's on anti arthritis drugs that have killed her immune system so anything she gets, she gets bad... and she gets EVERYTHING. She had pneumonia at the start of the year and her latest was 'hand, foot and mouth' - which is only supposed to affect children! That said, from what I've heard, this 'swine flu' seems to be quite a mild strain so far, so I'm not particularly worried for the world - just for people like my sis and your Mum.
