I don't drink fizzy drinks myself but I thought this might perhaps be vitally important to some on here.  Make of it what you will I really don't know but it does make you think.

SWEET POISON!
AMUST READ!

In October of 2001, my sister started getting very sick.
She had stomach spasms and she was having a hard time getting around.
Walking was a major chore.
It took everything she had just to get out of bed; she was in so much pain.

By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 various prescription medications.

The doctors could not determine what was wrong with her.
She was in so much pain, and so sick she just knew she was dying..

She put her house, bank accounts, life insurance, etc., in her oldest daughter's name, and made sure that her younger children were to be taken care of.

She also wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida (basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd.

On March 19 I called her to ask how her most recent tests went, and she said they didn't find anything on the test, but they believe she had MS.

I recalled an article a friend of mine e-mailed to me and I asked my sister if she drank diet soda?
She told me that she did.
As a matter of fact, she was getting ready to crack one open that moment.

I told her not to open it, and to stop drinking the diet soda!

I e-mailed her article my friend, a lawyer, had sent.
My sister called me within 32 hours after our phone conversation and told me she had stopped drinking the diet soda AND she could walk!
The muscle spasms went away. She said she didn't feel 100% but, she sure felt a lot better.

She told me she was going to her doctor with this article and would call me when she got home.

Well, she called me, and said her doctor was amazed!

He is going to call all of his MS patients to find out if they consumed artificial sweeteners of any kind.
In a nutshell, she was being poisoned by the Aspartame in the diet soda...and literally dying a slow and miserable death.

When she got to Florida March 22, all she had to take was one pill, and that was a pill for the Aspartame poisoning!

She is well on her way to a complete recovery..
And she is walking!

No wheelchair!

This article saved her life.
If it says 'SUGAR FREE' on the label;

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!
I have spent several days lecturing at the WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE on 'ASPARTAME,' marketed as
'Nutra Sweet,'
'Equal,' and
'Spoonful.'

In the keynote address by the EPA, it was announced that in the United States in 2001 there is an epidemic of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus.
It was difficult to determine exactly what toxin was causing this to be rampant.
I stood up and said that I was there to lecture on exactly that subject.
I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous:

When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis.. Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants.
The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus.

Many people were being diagnosed in error.
Although multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, Methanol toxicity is!

Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially with
Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers.

The victim usually does not know that the Aspartame is the culprit.
He or she continues its use; irritating the lupus to such a degree that it may become a life-threatening condition.
We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptotic, once taken off diet sodas.

In cases of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, most of the symptoms disappear. We've seen many cases where vision loss returned and hearing loss improved markedly.

This also applies to cases of tinnitus and fibromyalgia.

During a lecture, I said,
'If you are using ASPARTAME (Nutra Sweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting, pains, numbness in your legs,
Cramps,
Vertigo,
Dizziness,
Headaches,
Tinnitus,
Joint pain,
Unexplainable depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss you probably have ASPARTAME poisoning!'
People were jumping up during the lecture saying,

'I have some of these symptoms..
Is it reversible?'

Yes!

Yes!
Yes!
STOP drinking diet sodas and be alert for Aspartame on food labels!
Many products are fortified with it!
This is a serious problem.
Dr. Espart (one of my speakers) remarked that so many people seem to be symptomatic for MS and during his recent visit to a hospice; a nurse stated that six of her friends, who were heavy Diet Cokeaddicts, had all been diagnosed with MS. This is beyond coincidence!

Diet soda is
NOTa diet product! It is a chemically altered, multiple SODIUM (salt) and ASPARTAME containing product that actually makes you crave carbohydrates.

It is far more likely to make you GAIN weight!

These products also contain formaldehyde, which stores in the fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs.
Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin and is used primarily to preserve 'tissue specimens.'

Many products we use every day contain this chemical but we SHOULD NOT store it IN our body!

Dr. H. J. Roberts stated in his lectures that once free of the 'diet products' and with no significant increase in exercise; his patients lost an average of 19 pounds over a trial period.

Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics.

We found that some physicians, who believed that they had a patient with retinopathy, in fact, had symptoms caused by Aspartame.
The Aspartame drives the blood sugar out of control.
Thus diabetics may suffer acute memory loss due to the fact that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are NEUROTOXIC when taken without the other amino acids necessary for a good balance.

Treating diabetes is all about BALANCE.

Especially with diabetics, the Aspartame passes the blood/brain barrier and it then deteriorates the neurons of the brain; causing various levels of brain damage,
Seizures,
Depression,
Manic depression,
Panic attacks,
Uncontrollable anger and rage.

Consumption of Aspartame causes these same symptoms in non-diabetics as well.

Documentation and observation also reveal that thousands of children diagnosed with ADD and ADHD have had complete turnarounds in their behavior when these chemicals have been removed from their diet.

So called 'behavior modification prescription drugs' (Ritalin and others) are no longer needed.
Truth be told, they were never NEEDED in the first place!

Most of these children were being 'poisoned' on a daily basis with the very foods that were 'better for them than sugar.'

It is also suspected that the Aspartame in thousands of pallets of
diet Coke and diet Pepsiconsumed by men and women fighting in the Gulf War, may be partially to blame for the well-known Gulf War Syndrome.

Dr. Roberts warns that it can cause birth defects, i.e. mental retardation, if taken at the time of conception and during early pregnancy.

Children are especially at risk for neurological disorders and should NEVER be given artificial sweeteners.

There are many different case histories to relate of children suffering grand mal seizures and other neurological disturbances talking about a plague of neurological diseases directly caused by the use of this deadly poison.'

Herein lies the problem:

There were Congressional Hearings when Aspartame was included in 100 different products and strong objection was made concerning its use. Since this initial hearing, there have been two subsequent hearings, and still nothing has been done.
The drug and chemical lobbies have very deep pockets.

Sadly, MONSANTO'S patent on Aspartame has EXPIRED!

There are now over 5,000 products on the market that contain this deadly chemical and there will be thousands more introduced.
Everybody wants a 'piece of the Aspartame pie.'

I assure you that MONSANTO, the creator of Aspartame, knows how deadly it is.

And isn't it ironic that MONSANTO funds, among others, the American Diabetes   Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the American College of Physicians?

This has been recently exposed in the New York Times.
These [organizations] cannot criticize any additives or convey their link to MONSANTO because they take money from the food industry and are required to endorse their products.

Senator Howard Metzenbaum wrote and presented a bill that would require label warnings on products containing Aspartame, especially regarding pregnant women, children and infants.

The bill would also institute independent studies on the known dangers and the problems existing in the general population regarding seizures, changes in brain chemistry, neurological changes and behavioral symptoms.

The bill was killed.

It is known that the powerful drug and chemical lobbies are responsible for this, letting loose the hounds of disease and death on an unsuspecting and uninformed public. Well, you're informed now!

Yeah... thats my understanding... its not good... but where my hubby is concerned (who is diabetic) its the lesser of the two evils, it helps him keep his sugar intake down without him feeling totally deprived of all the things he loves!
Since I got diagnosed I have developed a craving for all things of a sweet nature which I never had before.. was a savoury person.. and now I am eating stuff like cakes.. which I know I shouldn't, tho I don't scoff em all day every day.. but still am not supposed to have any.. or so they say

Am I the only person that hits delete in my inbox whenever I get one of those 'please pass this on to all your friends' emails?
Olly I know what you mean.  But I am always haunted by the thought that if I don't pass it along, especially when its something like this that I know nowt about, then people could be suffering unnecessarily.  As in this case I always put it on a 'make of it what you will' basis. Better to read a few words and go 'pah' than not to know in case something is harmful. And this didn't come in a 'bog standard chain letter thing' but from a friend I trust.

Hubby is a nightmare with ice cream... especially Magnums.  I stopped buying them for the family cos he has no self control when they are in the freezer (I would find the wrapper & lolly sticks shoved down the side of the sofa cushion).   But he seems to be sinking to new depths of Magnum depravity this year...  I found a box of mini magnums hidden at the back & bottom of the freezer... he'd actually bought some.. smuggled them in the house, and hidden them up!

ooooh  Magnums.. .Yummy

**puts Magnums on shopping list **

Dunno if I am doing myself any harm tbh. .Docs diagnosed me two years before they bothered to tell and treat me . .well check that they had told me and found out they hadn't I should say .. so it can't be that bad to have a norty thing now and then, well all thru the summer.. can it?

oh.. & yes I have tried frozen yoghurt (though to be honest the sugar content isn't that much lower)... he was not impressed!
I tried the Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia frozen yoghurt (cos they stopped making the ice cream ) and I was quite impressed You can tell the difference, but its still tasty

Is it just me, or have magnums got smaller? I bought some recently and I was quite disappointed with how titchy them seemed
SazBomb
I find a magnum too big... I tend to give half of it to the dog.   I like the mini ones... two of those is just right!

I will check out the Ben & Jerrys frozen yoghurt Saz...  thing is that frozen yoghurt may be lower fat than ice cream... but doesn't mean it will be lower sugar, in fact the low fat stuff seems to have more sugar than the normal stuff with some things.

I keep meaning to look at Skinny Cow ice cream too...

Tip it into a Hagen Daaz tub, then he doesn't feel hard done by
that would cause an uproar from the girl!   Ever since she got her own tub of Hagen Daaz when she had tonsillitis she seems to think she has the exclusive rights to all Hagen Daaz !

Appreciate how simple things are for you Saz..   you want ice cream, you buy ice cream, you eat ice cream!

I have Lupus (SLE) I dont drink Diet drinks I never have, they dont know what causes Lupus or they would have a cure, but I do believe certain drinks and food we have if you have Lupus or perhaps another illness does affect your body I have been told this, and certain foods I eat makes me feel very ill and affects my muscles,it does make you think about these health foods as well.. what is in them..

Ditty your poor friend yes this does happen unfortunately I was one of the lucky ones  if you could call it that I got very ill and they said all my blood tests were showing I had it, but the fact I had the rash and had biopsies confirmed it, they took nearly a year if I had not had the rash /biopsies I may still not have known what was wrong with me for sure, they sometimes misdiagnose Lupus for multiple sclerosis,I am off to cook myself some dinner

I read this and the link from Saz . One of my best friends has been suffering with many. many of the listed symptoms for a few years now. The docs, (of which she has seen many,) think it could be MS, but they're not 100% sure. She's had soooo many tests etc. and although they're sure it's a neurological problem some of the symptoms are consistent with MS, some not. The symptoms are however, pretty debilitating, so I'll be emailing her both articles. For many years she has used sweeteners instead of sugar and she drinks gallons of diet drinks, so it'll be more than worth her cutting those out to see if things improve, and if not, no harm done

Soops... my aunt has been ill for about three years...  lots of ambiguous symptoms that could be lots of things... chronic lethargy, diarrhoea, headaches, stomach pain, ....  her son had ME for 11 years so initially she panicked & thought it could be that.   Like your friend.. .she's been seeing lots of doctors, each one would say it could be something different... they did go down the Lupus & MS route too.

Turns out it was yeast related!!  I'm not clear on the details of how they discovered it.. but someone made the connection between them getting a bread making machine & the onset of her illness..    Apparently you use quite a lot of yeast in these machines...  and it had made her really ill.

She avoids breads with yeast now... & is back on top form.   It took 4 weeks for her to go from looking like she was dying (my Dad was in bits... he was convinced it was an undetected cancer) to looking twenty years younger.  She's like a spring lamb!  jumping around the place!

I hope your friend nails down whats making her ill xx

That's really interesting ditty. My son got seriously ill recently (ended up being a brain tumour) because he had an extreme reaction from an immunosuppresant he was taking for a transplanted kidney. All his doctors were in shock, some of them that we have got to know really well were heartbroken. There was nothing anyone could have done, and there was no way we could have detected or prevented it. He's really well now, but there is no way that he will be on that drug again, and he's off immunosuppression completely (his renal function by some miracle is better now than before he got ill).
My brother is a doctor, and he explained to me that everything in this world has the potential to be harmful to someone, at any given time. It works randomly and without warning. His theory is that the way medicine is moving...we will all one day have tailor made regimens based on our individual sensitivities to chemicals, drugs, toxins etc. He doesn't think we're far off from that stage at the moment.
suzybean
bloomin heck Suzy...  you & yours really have been through it haven't you!

& your boy is a walking miracle.....   I am sooo glad xxxx

Interesting what your brother says..  he's kinda taken my feelings a big step further, my objections to some current treatments that are trotted out to all at the same dosage.

This stems from my mums struggles with Rheumatoid Arthritis & a horrendous menopause... and problems with HRT.   HRT .. being doled out at trial dosages, but when you think about it... the levels of existing hormones should first be identified (which is possible)... & then bespoke HRT prescribed.  Also...  that her HRT is not unaffected by the steroid treatement for her RA.

And a whole load of other niggles I have with inconsistencies in medicine.

I will be a much happier bunny when your brothers idea for bespoke medication is a reality.  Also... what he says about something being toxic to anyone at any given time....  answers to things such as RA & other auto immune diseases may suddenly slot into place.
