Syd you tinker!
No, I really want to know, who you are going with, and what you are hoping to do, it sounds exciting..xxx.
Well thanks for asking 2 weeks in Cape Town....a week in Gaberone, Botswana for a wedding, and then a couple of days in Livingstone, Zambia to see the Victoria Falls with my kids (their first time, mine and the husband's second)...then Jo'burg/Transvaal for some Safari stuff and then home x
On my first day in Nigeria, somebody said to me: Africa pulls. Ain't that the truth. It's been 14 years since I've been back, but I'm still longing to be able to go again. Have a lovely time, take some photos to drool over.

Sounds like a great trip.....you do know that you had better take lots of pics of wedding, falls, and other fun stuff for me ...I truly wish I was there
Oooooo... it sounds wonderful Suzy...... I hope you have a fantastic time
Thanks Baz . I'm really psyched about it. It's like the Beverley Hillbilies on tour at home right now with all the packing. There's 7 of us going over, but we had a trial run to Normandy last half-term. We couldn't travel anywhere at all last year because my eldest son had loads of health issues so it's like a celebration of all we've been through and overcome
Not planned and expedia didn't put it on the itinarary

Yup! I was born in Ghana. Africa Rocks!

Will do I hope I see another triple rainbow over the Vic Falls.
Now tell the truth....one week at the Pleasure Beach, fish and chips, a night on the peir watching Little and Large...nylon covers in the Bromide Hotel and as much Blackpool rock as you can stuff in your knickers
Sounds absolutely wonderful.
Hope you have a great time! And there was I getting a bit excited over my week in Turkey

My very brief aquaintance with Ghana was on a flight back to Britain, but relayed to Accra. Soldiers with machine guns everywhere and the doors locked. We had to work out the time for the connecting flight ourselves, my then husband was as peed as the preverbial. Nightmare and great adventure at the same time.
Ahhh suzy...! When are you off?
Have a fantastic time.. heaven knows if a family deserves a great trip, you guys do after all you've been through.

Oh, suzy, I had forgotten about that mainly, I think, because you said he was ok now (some time ago) all the better though.

That must have been during one of the Coup d'etats in the 70s and 80s. It's all calm and dandy there now

Don't worry Col We've all forgotten about most of it too, it's the best way really

It was '96, but there might have been something going on. I had no sense of fear in those days (I wouldn't have lasted in Nigeria), so to me it was an adventure and, to top it all, we had a great big thunderstorm once we were finally in the air. Brilliant.

Oh right, '96 was an election year so there may have more security. I was there in Christmas that year and there was nothing remarkable happening. I'm not fond of parts of Nigeria. I hate Lagos, but like Abuja, Kano and Jos (it's lovely and cool there).

Kano was our fly in city, Abuja was our closest city (us being slighly south of Gombe). I never went to Lagos, mainly because I wasn't prepared to commit suicide by flying in a local plane. Nigeria's president's son died in an aircrash that year and, althouth I should have gone to the German embassy for my passport, I wasn't that fearless.
