Ooooh, what a Diva

Susan Boyle has reportedly walked off of the America's Got Talent set.
o

According to TMZ, the singer became upset after former Velvet Underground singer Lou Reed refused to allow her to sing his song 'Perfect Day' on the NBC talent show.

Boyle is said to have "dissolved into tears" after learning of the decision and immediately left the Los Angeles studio where the programme is broadcast from.

She is believed to have left the US and headed back to London.

And with that shocking bit of news I now leave you to go to bed.

I would be in tears too having no talent of my own and not being allowed to sing a song from one of music's true legends. She must have been gutted. I still don't get the X Factor logic that you can be talented by singing other people's songs while being completely and utterly incapable of producing one of your own.

Funny old world innit. Bye Velvets, hello Jedward.

Prom thats a daft argument
You can have a truly great voice and not  write your own stuff.
Musical talent comes in many guises...

A definition of talent...

"a person who possesses unusual innate ability in some field or activity"

So I am afraid to say that it is perfectly acceptable that someone can have a natural talent at singing, even though they cannot write their own stuff.

So they can sing. Lots of people can. Can they write songs other people want to hear or are they just going to hang around waiting for other people with genuine talent to do that for them? What do they sing if nobody writes songs for them? Correct answer: nothing.

What about people who can write songs and cannot sing? LLoyd Webber, Tim Rice, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein to name but a few.....
They would look silly if there were not talented people to sing their songs.
Symbiotic relationship ...

Having listened to a lot of bands that have a great vocalist singing absolute rubbish, or a poor vocalist singing good songs and making them sound horrible, I am  REALLY  glad that some people just sing songs or write songs.

I hate having to listen to a talented vocalist singing a load of cliched crap about love and doves and that, just because they felt they had to write their own stuff even though words clearly aren't their thing.

You forgot Oasis. Writing songs is a talent, it's creative. Singing is just something people do. I suppose we should sign up that girl in Waitrose because she sings in tune. No wait, she doesn't look right.

Manufactured bands/artists are exactly that. The writers have the talents, the 'singers' are just handpicked based on the fact their voice doesn't sound like a banshee wailing or a cat being strangled. I suppose I could look up to them on that basis, but I shan't.

So Oasis are talented? Well that is open for debate - their songs make NO sense but heigh ho!
And you are completely missing the point. We are not talking about manufactured bands. We are talking about singers with good voices who do not write their own stuff.,
Singing is NOT something people do.
Some people cannot sing for toffee.

We've all heard that, but I have more respect for them than some clown singing a song someone else has written and taking all the credit. Two sides to the coin as always. You can't turn a bad songwriter into a good one. You can't turn a talentless twat (all X Factor contestants) into a talented twat, you can just make them sing giving the illusion of talent.

Or you can be Louis and take two completely talentless turdbags with stupid hair and pretend they're not the spawn of Satan (which, in fact, they are).

Wild Horses is one of the worst songs ever written by the Stones and one must assume that someone had interfered with their pharmaceuticals somewhere along the line.
Oh don't get me wrong, I don't really like Wild Horses either but her interpretation did nothing to enhance it.
Now if she ever touched a Beatles song, I may have to get really nasty..
