Good luck to all you worried parents! Just keep in mind that it really isn't the end of the world if they don't get the results they want or need. There's always re-sits, clearing, and other uni choices. Education isn't as final as it was a few years ago and kids that are determined to get on in life will do so one way or another. It sounds as though all of you who are waiting have kids who are smart and applied in their attitudes to their futures so I'm sure they'll all do just fine anyway. Hug

My older son gets his A level results on Thursday. He needs certain grades to get into the university he really wants to go to, and I'm so afraid he won't get them and it will be a VERY traumatic day on Thursday.

OH is supportive, but a little fed up with me wittering on, plus I don't want to show my son how much I'm fretting.

Is anyone else in the same boat? Just to talk about how I'm feeling to anyone who wants to listen will be helpful.

The week after my other son's GCSE results come out, but am not so worried about them - he will still be able to go to 6th form - so it doesn't seem so final as the A level results.

Confused

Am in same boat...and as its my eldest dont really know what to expect.
Daughter's keeping herself busy...and shes actually made a contingency should she not get her grades.

My daughter just missed one of her grades and had to go through clearing. She's now at Hull, doing Psychology, and absolutely loving it.

My son's AS levels are this year's worry! Laugh

Mine looked a psychology in Hull and was really impressed, but had a change of heart and plumped for philosophy instead.Shes hoping to go to Southampton but isnt very hopeful about getting the grades.

Hi moomin

I too am waiting with baited breath on Thursday my daughter is waiting on A Level results and my nerves are kicking in i will be beside myself on Thursday waiting for her to ring me when she goes to school to get results

She needs 3 B grades or above to get her chosen degree course not easy by anyones standards,as a family with have been through a tramatic time this year when she was studying etc,and i know she lost all interest but pulled herself together.

If she hasnt got enough its not the end of the world she can repeat and go next year, its not i am desperate for her to get grades,i just dont want her to have any more disappointment or upset than what she and the family have been through.

I love her and am so proud of her,and i am sure you are your son,its mainly their feelings we are concerned about, not the grades.

SO good luck to him and eveyone esle whos children are waiting on results,i will say a wee prayer they do well and our happy and healthly when i say one for my daughter

Budge up - I need to sit among fellow worriers!!

The results are up on the UCAS site at modnight on Wednesday/Thursday. Well, not the results as such, just whether you have got your choice or not.

I know this because my son knew last year that he hadn't got his first choice when he went to pick up his results (he's soooo happy where he is now though).

We have got it all to come again on Thursday with our daughter :fingerscrossedsmiley:

Thanks for the info...didnt know that...that must save a lot of worry for many.I seem to recall spending results day making hundreds of phone calls when I was that age.
Good luck to yours Rexi Hug

It may not matter if your son does not get the grades stated on his conditional offer...as long as he gets the grade required for the particular subject he'd doing it could well be enough.

My son was offered requiring ABB but got in on ACC cos he got the A in maths and that is what he was going to study.

That's a hopeful suggestion, Croc
What happens if the subject he is taking isn't one of his A levels though? Confused
Moomin
Hopefully he will get the grades he needs .....if not you have to be ready with all the right things to say.

As someone else said there are always re sits ...the Uni of his choice may re consider his offer (depending on results generally) or maybe another University mightn't be so bad.

In all honesty I'd go down the re sit route .................I know a year is a long time in a young persons life but - in the grand scheme of things - if that's what he really wants ....it'll soon pass.

Good Luck Hug

Aw, I know that Croc... and if the worse happens then I can kick in with the other options. Its the not knowing thats a killer.

Tell us more, Disley - did you get very much lower grades - which uni - which course?
Some courses are more popular/oversubscribed than others, aren't they? I'm very glad my son isn't wanting to do medicine, physiotherapy or law.

Exactly! Even if he doesn't get the required grades, there's still a chance.

I hope you're worrying over nothing, Moomin, and that your son gets the required grades but please, don't fret if he doesn't. If this is the case he will need to contact the Uni straight away . . . his teachers will have already told him this.

My students get their AS results this week, too and I feel as nervous as a parent! Eeker

Good luck to him (and to all awaiting results) and here's a Hug for you! Wink
