Are you a sun seeker or not?! Do you listen to all this "you shouldn't sit in the sun" Or are you one of them who just can't get enough of the sun?!

I was only out for a while today and already I am burnt, but only to one side of my face and a bit on one arm, as I was sunning myself in my PJ's (not intentionally, I was just lounging about in the garden like)

I got burnt once really badly, even the bottoms of my feets were burnt...that was silly, and sore

I blame bad parenting I think it's sensible to be careful, we really didn't sit out in it today to catch it, was just pottering (well, I was just being lazy watching the pottering )

I spent all afternoon in the garden working/dozing/working/dozing...it was lovely. I like cosy winter evenings but truth told I am a spring/summer person and adore hot sunny days. Luckily I tan well - and my children take after me with skin tone thank goodness.

As a child I don't recall any fuss about sun tan lotion. I'd play on the beach all day in my bikini and turn slowly brown. Never remember burning either despite hours in the sea/on the beach.

A suntan is skin damage, however we still have this mindset that a tan is "healthy" looking.I'm in Glasgow, a fair skinned freckly Celt. When I was a kid we got sunburned, not abroad but here in this country on the Scottish holiday coasts. All we got was some "nivea" cream after the event.I remember being in agony with sunburn.I'm 55 now ,so we are talking about 40 years ago etc.I did have skin scare about 15 years ago.A very large dark freckle on my upper breastbone...off to the docs.I was referred to the dermatology dept. They ended up taking really close up medical photos. The specialist stated because it was in a very visible area ,with very little fat etc they would not cut it out, because the scarring would be bad. When they have to cut out a mole or blemish etc they have to take a large lip section of skin with it,so that they can then stich up the sides.I was monitored for a few years after, thankfully it did fade and caused no further problems.

I like saying I catch the sun it sounds really impressive even though I didn't actually catch the real thing (I'd probably be dead) but it still sounds good

Would you prefer the sun to the rain though ?

Absolutely, I love walking around in the sun, don't see the point of lying there trying to catch a tan.

It's a bi product of lazing in the warmth of the sun - can be very enjoyable with a cool drink & good company or book

If you've got a good book what do you need the sun for?

Because sitting outside in the sun is very often warmer than sitting indoors

Plus I didn't know it was an either or scenario

What if your book catches fire? What if you get sunburned just as you got to a really good bit of the book and had to go back indoors in pain abandoning all book activity? Dunno slim, I just wouldn't risk it

Well - Yes! there is that - am very glad you brought it to my attention

I shall remember to have a jug of water nearby just in case my book should catch fire & wear a cheeses cloth all in one so as not Burn myself

I love the early morning sun. To me,sitting in the garden, coffee in hand, chilling before the day starts is the best thing ever.

I can't sit out in the sun for long periods for too long. I am however one of those people who only has to be in the sun for a few minutes to get a tan. I already have strap marks on my shoulders.

I do wear cream though and a hat as well because I am paranoid about the C word
