EastEnders - So Calum, who has just joined the Police Force seems to spend all his time in plain clothes and goes into work whenever he likes, spending most of his days doing his own thing. Yet he's only just joined the force! When and why did he get this promotion to a senior detective? This isn't how new PC plods serve as far as I know.

I donβt watch east Enders any more , but I agree that plot line sounds totally ridiculous Carnelian
Soaps pride themselves on gritty realism and challenging story lines
In reality it's almost pantomime. If that's what they believe is reality we live in a more terrible world than i realised
48 regular characters in Eastenders. 4 deaths so far this year (4 last year).
So life expectancy is 48/4 = 12 years. So hardly realistic
I often say to people, "You've been watching too much East Enders" when they become a bit OTT
I honestly believe that programme has almost single handedly made Britain into a bunch of drama queens.
